I saw on the AMA yesterday where ArenaNet had stated they didn’t intend for it to be like this, they realized the dungeon was awesome but they didnt know it would grow so fast. I’m just throwing an idea to try to help, so here it goes! Simple, put a lockout on Fractals, i don’t know how you would want to do it, but for example, make it to where you can only do so many fractals a day or something along those lines. FOTM is a fantastic dungeon, and I love the concept, but everything else is getting shafted. Finding groups for regular dungeons is near impossible, and Orr has become a wasteland. I strongly believe a simple lockout would fix this issue!

or better solution, let the legacy dungeons fall by the wayside.. and build new dungeons based on the fractal concept.. I’d love it if some day we had 30 or 50 different fractals, each with hundreds of permutations.. so you could run thousands of times and not see the same thing twice.

This is why the fractals are great… they are quite fresh, I’ve run almost 70 fractals so far, and on the last one I found a new change I hadn’t seen before. Sadly there are not as many options as I would hope.

But locking out? thats just stupid. :p why restrict gameplay from people who want to play it? I played an MMO a while back that you could only play as long as you had energy, if you ran out of energy you had to wait for it to recharge (24 hours) or buy more. This sucked worse than just about anything else. If I have 6 hours to kill (frequently is the case) and I want to do one or two things, being prevented from doing those things would annoy me.

The old dungeons obviously are not a big hit, for the most part they are just annoying to do and tedious. They can change them, leave them the same, or replace them… but leaving them as they are won’t make them more popular.

I think saying it’s a stupid idea is a bit ridiculous. Lockouts only have to be for one day, they don’t have to be a long time. Plenty of other games use lockouts, and it’s working fine, but yes I agree they should re-vamp the dungeons. All gw2 is now is FOTM spam. I’m sure they’ll fix it soon enough though.

its financially stupid.
They make money because people use their service, discouraging people from using their service… would make them.. well.. NOT use the service, thus not have a reason to spend more money.

they need to make other stuff equally attractive (which -if i recall correctly- they were planning on doing for dungeons) not lock people out of content
