Is there any word on whether or not face to face trading will return from GW1 (And literally every other MMO ever)? Mailing is fine, trading post is ok, but if I am standing in front of someone on my server I shouldn’t have to mail them or require them to buy it (thus making less money) from the trading post.

I’ve been trying to sell some very sought after items lately and I am not going to just trust people that they’ll mail me the gold (I’ve been ripped off on items for ~1g and under before and reported every one of them for scamming) and I am just not willing to mess around with risking losing tons of money on what could be a scammer for a high-value item.

If there’s been a response from Anet about them working on it or whatever, that’s fine I’d love to hear it, but my only 2 options are take a huge cut from this rare item by selling it on TP or risk the guy not giving me the cash. (Because oh yeah nobody will send you money first – they want the item first.)

The TP cut is the price you have to pay for 100% safe trading. ANet has not indicated that they are ever going to introduce direct player-to-player trading into GW2 (and honestly, even with the way things were set up in GW1 people still managed to get scammed anyway), so if you really don’t want to pay the 15% tax, then you’ll just have to take the risk.

And honestly? If I was the buyer I’d never send you the money first either. :P For all I know YOU could just take my money and run too.

I like the Trading Post system a lot more than GW1 system . I’ll take the 10% fee over getting scammed and seeing trade spam everywhere any day of the week .
