Farming Wars
The bazaar is out for a month, which means if you actively strive for just one achievement a day (in addition to getting 2 sky crystals and 1 charged quartz) it’ll take you 22 days (to fully complete the living story). Assuming this event ends August 1st, you have exactly 22 days.
That is, of course, not counting the second half of this event.
And if you had a steady job and a family, you would realize that twenty-two days to complete the content is simply not enough. Even if it were enough time, it still would not change the fact that the boring repetition of "Do “x” amount of achievements this month to get “y” exclusive reward is not only boring, dry and painstaking, but it only seeks to reward a very select crowd of players, while alienating ALL the rest. This is only further demonstrated by the current achievement rewards. Since when have achievements, always a “bragging rights” mechanic, become necessary to reward? It’s just a ploy by Anet to keep the hungry-hungry-hippo-type players munching away at exclusive rewards so they can keep making money. However, this decision is driving away new players, and alienating others. It is the same decision that led to the downfall of GW1, creating a player base of elitists with little regard for newcomers or anyone that didn’t achieve their status. I started playing GW1 during its first beta event and stuck with it until the bitter end. More and more each day, it seems GW2 is only going to follow in the same poor-choice footsteps of its predecessor and I will simply leave and move on to another, better company and game. I am beginning to regret participating in GW2’s beta and having spent so much time anticipating for, and investing in this franchise.
I’m at 37 Sky Crystals, talked to all the NPCs, done 4 of the kites hidden in JPs and ran I think 5 races (didn’t win any though :/) and it took me about 2 hours. Cut that in half so it’s just an hour a day, and I’ll still finish most of the achievements in less than a week (I’ve yet to try the drinking bouts mini-game).
Agreed some of the previous achievements (kill 250 pirates that only spawn 2/3 every few minutes?) took way too long and had you either camping one spot or running from A-B-C over and over, and I don’t plan on completing them, but this latest batch of achievements is anything but farming. Most fun I’ve had outside of WvW in months

I dunno, I find the achievements for this event:
a) somewhat easy (I managed to get 10 of the achievements within about an hour of play)
b) not that repetitive (unless you don’t leave an achievement until you’ve completed that one)
in comparison with some of the other events.
As for the family and steady job thing, I can’t really say I agree, since I only get around 5 hours a week (maybe 10 if I can get a weekend session in) to play.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
I believe Anet’s intentions about farming were that their should be no farming for Levels and truly there are many ways to gain experience, have fun and level. This is misunderstood by the community because of mis-communication by Anet. In many games you need to farm the same monsters over and over again to obtain levels.
Also I am very confident in saying that their is a 99% chance every event with achievements will repeat.
Focus on just getting the laurels from dailies / monthlies as the achievement points awarded from them are really just a slap in the face to everyone.
Finally, focus on just having fun and getting what you want or doing what you would like to most.
