I really think that 90% of the rage that players have when infrastructure problems happen is because we don’t get absolutely zero acknowledgement about it (EU, not sure about NA). That and queues, nothing you can do about that right now – any reasonable player will realise that it’s just reality.
Even I was induced to rage because I didn’t know what was going on. Did our opponents have an advantage? (last I heard from a guildie who stayed online for a bit longer was the enemy was still holding strong blobs in WvW) Or did the whole of EU go down?
You guys have a twitter account, it doesn’t take long to have someone quickly say “The whole of EU has gone down – we are working on it.” You don’t necessarily have to tell us why (although doing so would make us trust you more), just let us know there is a problem as save us the hassle of running diagnostics on our connections.
Really guys, everyone is transparent about down time – not only games. Ignoring down time doesn’t make it go away – when it happens there are thousands of players affected by it. We do notice it. Tell us that you have noticed it and are sorry – not a day later, the very minute you see it happen.
Edit: Down time is reality. Feeling bad about it is a healthy attitude, users (players) should be mature about it. Just don’t sweep it under the carpet: it’s insulting (to me at least).

Hi,
I understand your frustration but in this case it is not something that could be done. I’m an IT guy myself and know a thing or two bout it. What happened this evening is that there where performance issues. This started actually with this forum that had issues all day. But slowly found a way into the game. Cause lag and TP to go down. At one point i saw a lot of my friends in the friendslist dc-ing. But still many others where still in the game.
So the issue at hand was that there where performance issues and they where increasing. Combined with the normal lag (even the kind that you normally dont notice) it resulted in the situation that many people where affected.
These kind of things accumulate over time and it is pretty hard to tell when you have to give out a general notice. Also keep in mind that the bug section thread bout this only has 19 posts. That is normally the most active thread. With past downtime for all players in EU, NA or both such threads counted over 200 reactions within the first 30 minutes. (so not trying ignore your personal pain, but it was not as wide spread to call it a real full downtime)
However. With real downtime that is considering everyone you would have a great point. communications then are way too slow as well.
I think this would be a task for the mods here. Server admins can see diagrams and reports bout performance and get an alert if there is something wrong. These however doesnt give any indication how it actual impacts the community. The mods here can see that an issue is getting out of hand. For example if in 15 minutes time atleast 50 people complain bout an issue they take two steps.
a: posting a short reaction in the thread or threads bout this. ‘We are investigating this issue.’
b: Reporting it to a community manager who contacts the serveradmins to see what the issue is, to check if this is allready being handled by them. This person then brings out a more formal statement both on twitter and here saying ’We are aware on the issue and working very hard to solve it.
