Festival Minis - You had it right before
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I think the Wintersday was the best in offering skins and minis. Everyone could have a chance to get them – cash shop or in-game activities
Lost Shors were the worst. Buying or crafing boxes is still alottery
Lottery things MUST GO OUT OF THE GAME. They promote gambling.
Plus, not everyone is a gold farmer to afford minis in Trade Post or a Master Crafter to make them.
In Wintersay every new player can get 2 minis free by doing the dungeons without spending real cash or lots of gold
The part you’re missing is that there are two seperate sets of minis in Wintersday.
The ’toy minis – Ventari, Princess Doll, Toy Soldier, Plush Griffon and Golem are fine. You can make 2 of them using items from the dungeon and a 3rd using items bought from the TP plus the frame from the dungeon, then buy the last 2 in a straight sale on the gem store if you wanted to. Everyone could easily and clearly get the ones they wanted, or get the full set.
But there’s a second set – the Festive Golem, Snowman and Airship which ONLY come from the RNG boxes and are account bound so you can’t even trade any extras you get. You also need to get 3 extras to make Foostive the Merry (the Quaggan). Those are the ones I’m wanting to see changed for future events.

Okay… WHY do people have to abbreviate all the time? It is fine if you abbreviate AFTER you say one time what you mean. But PLEASE don’t assume everyone knows your abbreviations. (That would get more people to answer you when looking for groups, or trying to sell things too. Make yourself UNDERSTOOD!)
Now with that said, what is a “RNG box”? I want to know if there’s one chance in a million I will ever own Foostive the Merry.
Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.

I am sorry I misunderstood. Well, as long as they were a lottery thing I didn’t even give a thought of them so maybe that is why I have forgot about those. But you are right. That mechanic should be changed
i kind of liked how the wintersday minis were handled… the only issues i have is that you need 6 minis as opposed to 3 from the box, and that they arent available on the TP, the free 2/3/5 minis (with more available in the store) seemed like a great idea

RNG = random number generator
… id normally agree with you, but imo every gamer (especially those who play games with loot) should know what it means
80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]

I was working under the assumption that people reading this would have already read at least some of the previous discussions and would have come across the term before.
RNG box means random number generator box. Things like the Black Lion Chest or Wintersday Mystery Box where there are a number of possible drops and which one you get is determined entirely by a random number generator, usually with the most popular items having an extremely low drop rate.
