Festive items should be cheaper
Some gem store items are obviously meant just for fun. And some gem store are obviously buff items.
The problem is when Anet mixes the Fun with Festive (Halloween Fireworks). And then charging a exorbitant price to enjoy the fun aspect of these items.
Fun items with no buffs should be very affordable. Because they give the game world a fun festive feel. That will help keep players interested in the game.
+1 to this.
GW2 is a game with a myriad of currencies, why do so many of them require a “Big Spend”? Surely a constant trickle is as effective as an emptied bucket once in a while? It’s also more fun.
No.
These are items you don’t need. They are extras, and they still cost money to create. Why would they bother spending money on creating stuff if they don’t really earn enough from it?

Anet is not making money off these items now! They cost too much to use real money on.
Players buying more expensive items in the gem store. Will use their left over gems on smaller less expensive festive items.
Cheap festive items will also act as a gold and gem sink.
Anet needs cheap items for impulse buyers.
Also at so point the development costs of festive items have been paid for. They should drop the price at that point, so more players can afford these fun items. Anet may even make a larger profit this way.
Expensive festive items are bought more by guild farming and not with cash.

Oh?
I see a rather massive amount of those items around in the game at all times, but I suppose they were somehow hacked into the game rather than bought then?
Players buying more expensive items will already have bought the gems, thus if they use the leftovers or not is quite uninteresting from a money-making view. There are also quite a few cheap items that they most likely could spent the gems on.
“Expensive” festive items is also acting as a gold and gem sink. In order for it to work just as good as it is now one most be able to guarantee that the amount of cheaper items would provide a large enough sale to be comparable to the amount currently being bought at the “expensive” price.
Impulse buyers will by items they find nice no matter the price.

So basically kitten off those that bought the item in the first place just to find out that a day after release they could have gotten the same item for much less?

Many players horded Free “SAB’s of Fun” when Stage 1 was released.
Many players have received 5 free “Box’s of fun” in mail. I also think it is a one time reward for something, can’t remember what that was.

Ever seen a sale? They are not advertised ahead of time.
I have seen sales, but sales just a few hours after something was released? (Unless they had a sale as part of the release that is) No, I have not actually seen that, and that is exactly what you were saying. “Drop the price down as soon as it has paid for the dev cost”.

That is the right thing to do.
Do you see old DvD movies in stores for $19.99? No they are to $1.00 to $9.99.
Except if you’re Disney. They make it so you can only buy their movies when they want you too. To milk more money out of them.
Which would kitten off all those that bought it when they were released just to find out that a few hours later the price dropped. Don’t you see the issue with this?
I have NEVER seen something drop in price a few hours after release, especially not that steeply.

Taking about the Halloween fireworks? Players are paying for the buff for their guilds. Not the fun aspect of the item.
The buff would no longer be on new Halloween Firework sales. But old Halloween firework sales will retain the buff.
Temp items meant for fun should not have a buff. With a cheap price to encourage players to use them.
Bonfires look cool but are meant as a group buff item and not for fun. Players are paying for the buff.
I find it quite interesting that you apparently know the reason for why everyone is buying stuff.
What makes you so sure people only buy it for the buff?
And if they did, how come there are still loads of items without buffs being sold?

You are just being a troll! No one in their right mind would be for more expensive items meant for fun.
Ah yes, I am disagreeing with you, thus I am a troll.

Anet will make more from cheaper temp cosmetic items. Than overpriced ones that players may only buy once.
So, why don’t they sell them cheaper?

Greed, want a quick buck. Instead of a bigger but more long term profit.
Ah yes, I am sure they would go with a model that would make them less money if they had an alternative that would give them a more steady and increased income.

Most people take the quick money first.
So, why are they not doing something that would earn them more money in the long run?
They have a economist in their staff, I am quite sure that they have just as good if not better knowledge about these stuff as you do.
