Add first person mode in the game.. maybe something like Elder Scrolls Online or idk.. just do it. It is really hard to do tight jumping puzzles with big characters (and no reroll to asura comments pls <.<)
First Person mode
Would also be nice for screen shots and just general admiring of the world. I can do it now, but I often miss great views as I’m running thru my surroundings b/c my character’s head and shoulders are in the way.
I would love to have FPM in Guild Wars 2. The art of this game is amazing and having FPM would be icing on the cake.
They had it in GW1.
first person mode is welcomed, love the idea, should be implemented immediately
Yes yes yes. Yes yes yes. Yes yes yes.
As a screen-capping fiend, I would REALLY like to be able to take first-person photo ops the way I used to in GW1. I could get some REALLY nice pictures if my FAT HEAD weren’t in the way. (Zooming out to minimize my screen space kills all the good angles, so don’t suggest that.)
+1
I really love this idea.
I was honestly surprised when I entered this game and found out I couldn’t zoom to first person. Seems a very basic feature for new MMOs. Does anyone know the reason why this wasn’t done? Is there one???
xD, sup guys, il just tell you a trick if you use the sleep emote and angles your screen right you get first person actually.
7800 hours ingame, and counting.
wow im mindblown by that suggestion! no sarcasm
I would love the hell out of a first person mode, they had one in vanguard where you were really inside, seeing my legs, my shield and my sword. I was playing the game only that way it was SOOOOOOO AMAZING
+1, 15 chars, etc etc etc. Get on with the QoL fixes, Anet!
Again, you can get first persion views in this game by sleeping and angeling your camra right

Apparently the game started with a first person mode, but was taken out. I’m not sure why. Angling the camera Also only goes so far. For example, on my 9 ft Norn, and even on other characters, I’ve so far only encountered a couple jump puzzles that I could get through in which my camera did not start glitching out, since, even with the off-set view, it still bugs. Even a “partial” first person view, like, your character becomes transparent, would work – just something that doesn’t cause the camera to constantly glitch in close quarters.
I want first person mode for screen shots!
Although in the early days of GW2 I heard that ANet made a very concious choice to not implement this.
the camera will spin like hell when you dodge roll
thinking about it makes my head go round
Oh, dude – I just forced a grid landscape to rotate through the dodge roll animation. That’d be puke city for many people. They’d HAVE to have the camera stabilised in a forward facing (target facing, even) orientation, regardless of character model movements. (In other words, up would always be UP, facing your cursor, regardless of the fact that you’re somersaulting about.)
Support. I wouldn’t ask for a real 1st person though, just zooming through the character.

Please give us 1st Person Mode. This is not what players desire or want, this is what players NEED, I —N E E D-- 1st Person Mode to explore. I do not mind that I cant fight in 1st Person Mode even but I —N E E D-- it.
The current camera simply does not work in tight places. Unless those odd and broken camera angles is part of the game design to add more “difficultly” to the game, we really —NEED-- a 1st Person Mode.
Thanks.

I already know about that method. It’s a work around, but it’s not first person mode. In some places you can’t angle your character out of the shot. And, even when you can, it forces you to take all screenshots at an upwards angle from the height of a short asura. (No offense.)
Actual first person view would allow me to take an unobstructed screenshot angled downward or at eye level, which is, IMO, the best angle for a lot of this scenery.

That’d be really funny to experience. And possibly motion sickness inducing. I’d be fine with it like that, but they could also implement it like Skyrim where you dodge roll and you hear the effect but the camera stays mostly steady and just moves in that direction, character remaining transparent. (Not asking to be able to see my hands like in Skyrim. Would defeat the purpose of an unobstructed view.)

I’m a screenshot fiend as well, and would love it for that application, but there’s a practical consideration here too. In WvW when trying to aim up at the defenders on a wall, my camera already has to compete with all the others running around. It’s a shame I have to work around ME as well.
And for the record, first person was in the game for beta, but was removed before launch (between the first and second BWE’s, I believe).
The possibility of physical and mental collapse is now very real.
No sympathy for the Devil, keep that in mind.

+1 (and, These forums are not followed by everyone.)_consider about idea not number of supporters
Someone gave example about skyrim(viewing hands) , guildwars have to learn with it ,change with it.making mistakes better than afraid from them.just a idea
As a guild wars player thrilled me to think of this first person experience.
And someone asked about roll animation also.nice question.dont have the answer right now but also im not the one have team for developing this game.also you dont have to roll camera with char.just another idea.
thank you for your attention about this topic.im going to play my ranger now.you see?? am playing this game.and still want that first person selection
