Please, please, please make first person view available. I think it would grant a more immersive feel to the game, help out in areas where camera zoom/angle is a problem and furthermore help to be able to see other players better and more detail (like perhaps see what a Charr looks like from my Asura’s point of view)

I understand how the textures on GW2 only seem detailed because of how zoomed out the camera is but I will tolerate blurry close-up textures if it means that I could see the open world a little better from the point of view of my character.

In addition, it would be nice to be able to zoom in a bit more on your own character as well, since some details only stand out when close. It would be great if you could take a closeup screenshot of your character’s face without using the ‘get camera stuck behind wall for closer zoom’ trick :-P .

But how would it work with all the hopping and rolling around on the ground? Wouldn’t you get sick from watching that from the first person?

Yes, that would be pretty handy and it would allow players to make better screenshots. Be practical.

I recall in an interview on Reddit with Anet that First Person View was planned to be in game by launch or shortly after.
Indeed in one of the developer builds, the First Person View was an OPTION in the settings.
It never made it to launch.

I fear Anet has simply decided not to put it in the game.

I’ve heard rumor that for some reason, some people at Anet feel that having 1st person is not immersive and looking at one’s character’s backside all the time is actually more immersive. If this is true, I’d be actually very miffed by it…

I wish the would put it in the game. It certainly helps when navigating close quarters where camera view keeps clipping out. As well, nice to look at the world ‘in front of you’ versus always seeing your character in the view. One can ‘imagine’ they they’re their character with 1st person view and helps promote roleplay too. I find it hard to imagine I’m actually in the game world when I’m always having to look at my character’s backside all the time.
It would be nice to approach and talk to NPCs and easily see them (instead of getting in the way), and also be able to look at other players in the game without having to fiddle with the camera all the time.

Please, let’s get 1st Person View in the game already.. sigh

To be honest, I am not playing the game since 2 months because of this.
I want to discover the world by the eyes of my char, and currently I can’t.
So in order to not spoil me more than I did, I stopped to play.
It’s such a classic feature for mmos, that I can’t understand why they don’t let us have it.
I think it’s very unprofessional …

I’d love to have a first-person view, yes please ArenaNet!
