It feels as though these Forums are ignored by ANet. ANet instead feels the urge to release at minimum one major update per month (ie. Halloween Events, Cursed Shores, soon to be Wintersday) and is turning the majority of their attention to this new content and therefore ignoring the community. I am not trying to say ANet should stop making new content but rather they need to listen to the community and build a stronger game that is enjoyed by the community. If ANet is only worried about new monthly events and not about the community then soon their releases will be for no one. While the game’s player losses have been similar to SWTOR’s, there is still hope. But in order for players to join again and for others to be satisfied with the game you need to pay attention to the community. If the Wintersday Event is just going to be another bugged pseudo-festive mess then perhaps some serious attention given to the wants of both the PvE and especially to the seemingly forgotten PvP players would be much more important and beneficial to the game.

Thanks,
Smallzington

I agree with you that they focus more and the community , while there is still one in this game , which i honestly wonder how long will last , but the forums is a … vocal minority.

Half the reason the current game is a total mess is the forums actually.

You really gonna have to explain that one, the games a mess because of the forum, right.

They are following the same model from GW1.

They make seasonal events and push out some content, but majority of content is saved for expansions.

I feel as though the forums have played a major role in pointing out things wrong with the game and I’m sure they’ve done that for others. That’s not to say I thought the game was perfect before I stumbled into the forums but these forums have given me more ideas.

Also, on a side-rant: It bothers me a lot that with a forum so widely used and so well-organized and maintained that ANet has not paid much attention to them. There are sections set up about specific aspects to the game not to mention the Suggestion section; however, unless ANet is looking at these suggestions, all we are doing is inspiring other players with great ideas that they would love to see implemented, but alas they never shall be. Perhaps they do look at everything in the forums but without any posts from them besides the often irrelevant stickies, it’s difficult to feel any kind of presence from them.

In no way do I mean this to be taken rudely but in no ways were the Lost Shores a holiday event. It was in my eyes ANet’s first attempt at adding new content in GW2 that would remain after the event is over. I disagree with them doing this in the current state GW2 is in. You would not build a second floor of a home if the first does not have a foundation. They need to make the game what the community wants and add their larger updates in the form of expansions, which so long as I enjoy the game, I would have no problem buying.

Ok you need a wake up call.

First off those that use the forum and especially those that whine and complain are a small fraction of the community.

Second; with lost shores a survey was emailed. If you didn’t fill it out. That your problem.

When I found out about this game. I swore not to continue to be one of the silent majority and allow these type of post to go unanswered.

Those happy with the game do not come to the forums. For the most part. They play the game and that it.

Anet is listening as thier meeting showed the other day.

Please realize thapt those here in the forums are less then 5% of those playing

Simple , half the forums usually point one way , the other half the other way. Normal? Yes , people got opinions, but Anet , following their on devs words , is trying to make everyone happy , cause a MMO gotta accept everyone has part of its community.

What happens then? Anet begins to listen to the 1 side , but wait , the 2 side is unhappy go there , wait now the 1 side is unhappy again , gogo , but now the 2 …

And we got this game overlook.

What the majority of the community wants is a very nice thing , but you wont get that from the forums, gotta find some way to get it from ingame. Im not part of it , just like nobody else in this forum is part of the majority. Being in a forum already took you out of it.

And once they got it , they should stick with it , not simple run in circles.

While I initially was thrilled with the idea of another endgame area that feeling of joy was quickly destroyed with the release of the Southsun Coves. Southsun Coves consists only of a handful of events, several waypoint, a couple points of interest, and a horde of overpowered enemies. I am not going to ask that the Karka be nerfed to an easier form but rather ANet needs to make the zone more attractive to players so that large groups of PvErs want to do it. It has only a fraction of the attraction that Cursed Shores has with it’s numerous Skill Points and large events yielding massive loot. I will also point out that Southsun Coves is a very small zone when compared to the initially released content. To say I was a bit unsatisfied with the release of Southsun Coves is an understatement. ANet could’ve done a much better job with it’s first major content update in my honest opinion.

A crying shame you can’t have any of the cookies i baked since you don’t live near me cos i would have given you the entire tray. It’s high time people realized that the ones who complain are in the VAST minority. One of the few ways Anet can really guage what the community wants is by making polls for players to vote on. Maybe even going so far as to make the polls appear in game. This isn’t to say nothing is wrong with the game, but posts like this sometimes (not this time) makes it sound like every single player is angry at the devs.

Personally, i think the forums could potentially destroy any good mmorpg, but this is strictly my opinion.

I see that you pointed out I am not one of the players that incessantly rants about the developers. I personally loved ANet. I bought GW1 and every expansion within days of their release dates and I could never be unsatisfied with ANet’s impact on my gaming life and my fellow gamers. But for some reason I felt I had to comment on this issue. I understand some may disagree but in no way do I intend to be taken as I am being critical of ANet. I feel as though they will eventually get this game perfect but I believe they should be focussing on what the community is asking for at the moment and release larger content updates later.

It has been shown in another MMO that when the Devs started running surveys ingame they were hugely surprized that:
1) those on the forums were less then 10% of those playing
2) their answers were mostly opposite of those complaining in the forum

Heya piitb, since I didn’t play GW1 I just thought I’d ask – we’re the expansions there free or should we be expecting to pay money to get those here you think?

No they were not free they were around $40 but it was not simply a couple new zones, it was a whole new campaign.

Kind of like the Sorrows Furnace release or when they changed the area where you did HA to where TOPK was in Guild Wars 1. Smaller content releases have been done before so there’s nothing new on that front .

Some of their content events would have been planned long beforehand. And to them, the events were a must, to demonstrate to this relatively new community that their ideas are not limited to the box game.

They don’t ignore the community just to push new content all the time. But they have set themselves projects and set themselves goals to complete, whether it is new content or fixing old content.

There is so much feedback and suggestions which is great. However, we shouldn’t expect them to drop all their current projects over these unless is was absolutely crucial to fix an devastating exploit or bug. They read the player’s opinions, they weigh it in their minds and think of the implications it has on their workload, the game itself and the players as a whole. If an idea or suggestion seems to do right in all those areas, then they would need to set it a priority, allocate time to it, code it, test it repeatedly before putting into one of the content updates. This takes time.

Expecting any sort of problem to get fixed so immediately, can cause people to feel ignored, but quite frankly, they are doing the best they can. What company would want to lose their players? What company wants to be known for a broken game? What company wants to be so taxed that they feel unmotivated to do their best?

Not ANet. We should wait and hope.
