Food Consumption
Honestly, I don’t like this because it would take away the aspect of food items being a consumable.
You might as well give everyone a dropdown menu where they choose which permanent boon they want.
Olba, your response to Varfuls suggestion fails to understand that there is nothing removing the consumer factor. Also, the addition of a permanent boon given, (that you have equated varfuls suggestion with), has nothing to do with what Varful has written in the first place.
- The food is still being consumed.
- Players still have to purchase, create or receive gift of the items to be consumed to gain the boon they have arranged.
- It is far from permanent, as once the stack of food is used up, its gone, until more is acquired or made.
I’m in favor of being able to set food items for auto consuming as well. Although not from your bags in general.
- But to have a slot for auto consumed food to be placed
- or set up a way in which food stacks can be flagged for auto consumption.
Nothing worse then looking for that crafting item that you have accidentally eaten.
And for those die hard ‘manual consumers’ that want to go in to the inventory every time you want to pick something to eat, you can still, of course, do that.
The three points Varful has put I agree with. In addition to the further structural application suggestions that I have added.
I believe what Olba is suggesting is that for many players the logical reaction to this feature will be to buy a giant stack of their favorite food, set it to auto-consume, and never think about food ever again. And this will make it feel like a permanent buff rather than a consumable, even if your stack of 250 omnomberry bars really is decrementing by one every half-hour.
Yes, that’s more of a perception issue than a mechanical issue, but games are all about perception issues. I think it’s a valid concern.
Maybe we could just add something to help people remember to eat? Maybe an option to cause a sound to be played when a nourishment wears off, or something along those lines.
I don’t like the option of auto consume food. However I would love and support the suggestion if it comes down of adding a slot to the skill bar. Or a full new skill bar (can be added per interface menu) just for food, stones, oils and or boosters.
Just allow us to equip our inventory items in the skill bar like other games do. I find it kind of rediculous that I can’t swap weapons without bringing up an inventory bag that fills up half of my screen. Food is kind of similar, and then there’s also the gem store items that I bought (like How to dance) which also need inventory open…
The skill bar in this game is… terrible. Well, the UI in general, really. :P
I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.
