Fort Trinity Portals - Unfair
I think the best thing for Anet to do regarding transportation in general is take the controls away from the masochistic kittenbags.
All you have to do to take the waypoint from Lion’s Arch to the Priory. It’s actually pretty close across the zone line, and it’s like 2s.

have no clue what you are trying to say here.
Level 1 Event= 30c, WP = 2c, thats 15 WP’s per event.
Level 80 Event= 3s, WP = 1.5s, thats 2 WP’s per event.
These are generalized costs and rewards. The point is that by the time you get to 80 events barely pay your travel bills. Then you try to travel by foot and discover that apparently no one ever has to travel in this game since there are no roads anywhere. How do the NPC’s get around? How do they get supplies? How do they trade with the main cities? There arent even bridges half the time. Are all the NPCs swimming between Lion’s Arch and these outposts then scaling cliff walls just to get some breakfast? Roads are an integral part of civilization. Why do they barely exist in Tyria?
It was already obvious that Whispers are the smart ones, and priory are the geeks. Not surprising who has a better hide-out.
See also my signature. Ideally waypoints should just be free. But I suppose ArenaNet is not going to change that, ever, as it appears to be an integral part of their gold sink policy (sigh), I want at least equal crutches around that for everyone.
honestly… waypoints don’t cost that much. Your in much bigger trouble if you can’t pay for waypoints… it’s fairly easy to get money in this game. Shouldn’t even be a issue.
the (lower) degree of grinding in this game is offset by the rather long amount of time it takes to get from point A to point B (or the cost of it). Just picked the game up again but quickly realized how boring it is jogging everywhere you need to go – even if you’ve discovered the waypoint. and After a good GW2 session, I’m easily out 50+ silver from using way points – if I don’t penny pinch.
TL; DR – OP makes a valid point.

Loved that comment!
Yes, what the frack is that Trinity Portal business about? They spent time on adding THAT to the game?

It takes about 15ish minutes to run from one side of tyria to the other, from east to west. Compared to other mmo’s where taking a flight path from one area of the world to the other side can take half an hour+ I think it’s quite reasonable.
+ guild missions can now allow you to reduce waypoint costs as well.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
or you know… pay 1 silver to port. it’s not THAT expensive.
in fact, i bet you’d make the gold to pay faster than you’d get there by running.

Gonna have to call BS on that one. I suppose if there were no mobs it might be possible and it was somehow a straight line without any obstacles like zone walls or impassable mountains, etc.

Though it is complete BS, arguably he’s correct, in that you can go to mists, LA, then zone to any capital you want to access almost all areas easily (remember DR to get to Ebonhawke) very quickly, for free.
Though I know that’s not what he meant.

That’s what the recent meta-event chest loot fixes are for.
Guaranteed Rares = More ectos = Easy money if you’re don’t need them.
It’s on par with dungeon runs (if not better) if you’re serious about it and hunt down all the known Dragons and major meta-bosses everyday.

She* and we did a naked run across tyria twice and it really did take about that long to run across without waypointing or going into cities from ebonhawk, blazeridge, plains of ashford, diessa, wayfarers, snowden, lornar’s pass, gendarran, kessex hills, to the very west side of brisban (varied between how fast peoples loading screens were but between 15-20 minutes).

I was thinking more of a run from the Cursed Shore to Frost Gorge Sound.
streets in this game are waypoint… and you pay for that.
i always paid for my travels and i never managed to finish all my money just for that. i never used the heart of the mist excamotage because i prefer pay than have 2 loading screens.
besides, if you die with 0 coins, you can waypoint for free.

and then take a wp from trinity to even malchor’s leap let alone cursed shore and you paid a total of at least double what a direct wp to LA cost.
That said while i dont find the wp cost that bad (and no im rarely if ever deliberately farming gold or other things like that), it is still a valid point that whispers have so easy access, vigil have a decent access and priory a very kittenty access to it and should be changed somehow.
Given the prohibitive waypoint costs at high levels …
You lost me right there. How do you figure 4s or less is prohibitive? You can make that up in less then 1 event.
It’s really pretty sad when three whole silver is “prohibitive.” If you pick up two weapons at any time while you’re there you’ve paid for the cost, not counting the income from anything else. Who actually even uses those portals, ever? Seriously?

See this is just a stupid use of travel options. Why are you WPing in order to use a portal only to WP again? Why didn’t you just WP straight to where you wanted to go?
