Fractal Progress - make account based
While I may agree on some level, by making it account bound, there will be fewer and fewer people doing the 1-9 levels making it more difficult for newer players to get a group going.
I feel this request is unnecessary since the rewards are already account bound. Anyone starting Fractals wills soon discover to start the levels with their best character and continue on… Any time they need rewards for ALTs… Continue on Fractals 10+ with their best character. Any rewards gained can be reaped by any character on their account.
Not only does it need to be account based, but the entry should be “highest common level” instead of “lowest common”. If a higher level group is willing to bring a lower tiered player, they assume the risks inherent in bringing a potential newbie and said if said newbie can game up to that level, it’s silly to force them to slowly grind up level by level for weeks (or months for a casual player) before being able to help their more dedicated friends.
The rewards are indeed account bound, but this restriction is a burden to Players who have alts. I have two toons I really enjoy (guard and mesmer). If my team really needs my mesmer, why should they be penalized because I leveled fractals with my guard.
Conversely why should I have to regrind lvls 1 through 10 just to get my mesmer to the same point as my guard. It’s a complete waste.
This game is not a charity so why should I be forced to regrind to keep some players in the 1-9 ranks?
This makes sense, as long as the con is addressed – trying to get an alt into that dungeon is a pain as it is. Usually the elitist attitude comes from the players, not the content. =/
I think the con can be alleviated by removing the lvl restriction, or making the restriction the “highest obtained level” for any play on the team instead of the “lowest obtained level”.
Agreed this lets players skip through to the high levels if they find a buddy that made it that far. What harm is this other than the possibility of some very inexperienced PuGs wiping on high lvl content?
Another alternative is to enforce the gating starting at lvl 10 instead of lvl 1. I’m not sure this is a real fix as it just postpones the original problem.
So, I tried out Fractals this weekend, first time since its release. Man oh man, I do not know what I am doing. I ran around like a chicken with its head cut off, running under boiling oil, falling over trip lines, it was a mess. Hey, who wants me to join their Fractals lvl 20? Agony? I am sure it can’t be that bad! (total party whip imminent)

If the message that comes up tells current level the team can decide whether or not to risk it. I wouldn’t with a PUG, but would with a guild group in Mumble…
King of the Road (level 11)
Anastasia (level 6)
Lenny’s Squiggly (level 19)
BaJebus (level 2)
Walk Leetly (level 18)
The team now has the option of reforming without BaJebus, or continuing on at any level 19 or below. The level they choose is how difficult and how rewarding the fractal is — no making it any easier than it would be for 5 level 19s.
Really, it is far too devisive as it stands now for people who want to play fractals with guildmates and friends. PUGS can keep spamming for appropriate level players for as long as it takes, but guild members are always forced to downlevel their play. The current system is not good for guilds.

This is a great point.
I’m the only lvl 80 guardian and lvl 80 mesmer in my guild. My guard is at lvl 11 in fractals, my mesmer at lvl 2. There are times we really need my mesmer (like when another tanky guild member is in the team). Other times my guardian is desired (like when we have a lot of glass on the team).
Regardless I’m the same player, I put in my time to level a toon through fractals 1 – 10. Why should I have to replay it on my mesmer? It penalizes me and my guildmates.
I have 6 80s , 2 past lv 20 fractals, the rest lv 1 fractals, and I refuse to do 1-10 again on my other 4 80s because none of my friends will do them, and it gives me a splitting headache teaching people to do them over and over again.
I can’t understand the reasoning behind not making it acct bound, alll they are doing is dissuading people from playing alts, and the game
I disagree here. Different classes are, well, different. Just because you managed Level 746 on a Guardian doesn’t mean you could do it on a Mesmer.

Yeah… But the difference here is that when u level a character to 80 you generally have a clue about how to play the class, it’s not like people are crying that their lv 12 is not scaling to their main’s fractal lv. The people who make the argument you just did generally don’t have lv 80 alts

I did level 1-10 on my guardian. I could do it on my mesmer better because I’ve already completed it on my guard (and everyone knows mesmers are da bomb).
Seriously tho, the previous poster nailed it already. I know how to play all my level 80 toons (I have at least 80 levels of experience with each, which doesn’t include all the post-level-80 knowledge). I also know how to play fractals as I did a bunch of levels on one toon already. I think it’s safe to say I know those levels.
why oh why is everyone haters of grinding, all i see is QQ about to much grind here to much grind there, grinding gives you something to do, gives the devs time to come up with new things for game while you a re grinding that teir of gear, without some grinding then everyone will acheive what ever theirgoal ios, ghave nothing to do, get bored of game an find some game with something to do in, LESS QQ more pew pew

Because grinding is a waste of time — designed for exactly that. If you want to waste time then you are perfectly capable of designing your own grind.
This grind is completely engineered by ANet. There is little justification for it (other than the “con” I mentioned in my original post). People just want to play… not grind.
