Guild Wars 2

At Wintersday a lot of us guys have more time off from work or school, more so than we do during any other time of the year. To fill out those days, it would be nice if anet could bring back the historical achievements during this time.
Which brings me to the title of this project, Fractals of the Missed. Even without explanation alot of you guys already see where I am headed with this.

During December once a week until the conclusion of the Wintersday allow a few different Historical Event states that had its own achievement section to be opened up inside the Mistlock Observatory by one of Dessa’s krewe members. When you go though the portal you will arrive inside the territory that was most affected by those events during the original event and where you can most effectively work on old achievements. So if for example you missed Secret of Southsun, then it would send you to Southsun Cove where the events would be unfolding and you could participate with whatever you missed that was available. Note here I say available since I do not know if there might be some concerns with a few of the achievements since some are gotten in other parts of the Tyrian world.

Certain historical events will not be available since that only is fair to those who received them originally, like WvW season one. There might be a few that could be combined with others since they overlapped like, Bazaar of the Four Winds, Support Evon Gnashblade, Support Ellen Kiel, or the Adventure Box and Back to school could be combined states, but certain aspects will be available but will not have any effect on the original outcomes like voting for Evon Gnashblade.

I know a few of the historical events took place while I was not able to play the game because of real life, this would allow me to participate with the ones I missed. I don’t think everyone will agree about how or what can be done, or should it be done, so express your concerns and share your improvements to the idea.

TL:DR add a npc to allow old Historical Events in the achievement tab to be worked on during December, since people do have time off from work and school and sometimes life prevents us from attending all of the Living Story content when it happens.

This idea is awesome! I would love to see it implemented because I know that a lot of people get frustrated when they miss Living Story elements!

Back to the OP, ANet had a brain fart is the only way I can see it. They seemed to be getting better at understanding the time frames for completing LS content only to remove FotM AP so quickly.

This coming from someone who did ALL FotM achievements, but was still surprised they focused on their hard 2 week schedule. Especially given they won’t be back till late January.

It just seems silly.

I know there is no way that it could be done now….If its done it would be next year that’s why I said “during December”. I thought that would have been enough to explain that I was not expecting right away…I just think as far as timing I end up with a lot more during this month. Not to mention its cold outside so spending more time indoors with something I want to get done would be nice.

i like this idea as well. i just started playing the game recently and i don’t think it’s fair that i don’t have access to cool things that day 1 players have been rewarded with just because they’ve spent well over a year in the game and made time in that year to persue rewards that were offered in content that was announced as temporary, so ANET there is no arguing the fact that i’m entitled to the same rewards and would very much appreciate, in fact, i demand that you cater to me and my situation even if it would completely destroy the prestiege of these items that i so desire. thanx for your understanding of my desires to have what i want when i want and i look forward to the influx of mail i should recieve soon for all these great rewards that i wasn’t around to aquire in the same manner that the rest of the community did. i’ve also heard that Abyss Dyes used to only cost 5g back before i had the time to farm gold to buy them so if you could also make that happen for me i would enjoy that as well. Also karma used to be much easier to aquire before i was around so if you could add a meager 500k karma to my account and a couple hundred laurels i ddin’t get the chance to earn, you would get a big thumbs up from me.
Thanx in advance for seeing things my way and i will be checking my mail diligently over the next few days. Great game btw.

I think that the meta rewards should not be given, only achievement points and the ability to participate. Do you think that maybe the events that you was not in game to see should not be made available to you?
