Fractals to fight old GW1 bosses?
You know what fractal I want?
A Battle of Lion’s Arch Fractal. That would be so awesome.

I don’t know….the amount of Mursaat in the battle….kind of gave me nightmares lol
Since Ascalon Fractal already transforms your characters, the possibilities are limitless.
I want a Fractal that puts us through a section of Edge of Destiny, transforming our characters into Logan Thackeray/Zojja etc. Not going to mention which sections because that would be spoilers for the books. Or make it a section of Ghost of Ascalon.
I’d love to see Gate of Madness as a Fractal. Maybe one of the hardest missions I ever did :P.
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
Defence of Dzagonur Bastion would be cool or Unwaking Waters with Kuunavang or… Thunderhead Keep aargh i want em all..
Imperial Sanctum. That is all.
Resident Thief
I’d LOVE one with Shiro, the whole fractal could be fighting through the palace then getting to him with Togo, then we see him get killed in a cinematic.
im glad im not the only one who thought this would be cool…there sure were many missions in gw1 that cud make good fractals
I would love to fight the Lich again. And the great destroyer.

it would be legit….i believe the Lich fight…which actually had mechanics to it….would be the best fit for the gw2 boss fights
…what about a Fractal in which you take Shiro’s place (or the villians place is the main idea) and you have to kill the Togo ;D The Feels!
Or your party takes the place of the Great Destroyer and you have to fight off an adventuring party (your self) with an army of stone dwarfs behind them!
Ajini – Thief – Commander
What do you guys think of the fight with Dhuum? Make a small mission of it only the last part of UW.
Also I want the Ooze pit back XD
I think that actually most of the missions from factions would be possible most of them are not so long.
The fractals gives us a lot of possibility they are kinda boring now.

Yep the teleporting around and the lava etc made this quite interesting. i enjoyed it at the time.
To be honest even one of the earlier missions that explains some of the history of Ascalon would be great, like one of the missions on the great Northern wall.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Nolani_Academy
Or one of the chosen and white mantle missions.
A particular slice of Majesty’s Rest Hard Mode would be awesome
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Come to think of it, GW1 really had a lot of great boss battles and memorable missions. I wouldn’t mind seeing Thunderhead Keep again as a Fractal, or fighting the Lich, or the Great Destroyer. And defending Lion’s Arch against the Mursaat and the White Mantle would be epic!
But what about a Fractal dedicated to the Tomb of the Primeval Kings? Or the Dragon’s Lair? I wouldn’t mind going through Glint’s challenges in a Fractal. Or fight against a doppleganger.

Kinda like a re-live of the past events of tyria inside the fractal dungeon. At least it would allow new ppl to experience the moments of guildwars 1 and its great moments and gain understanding about the game past events that brought forth guildwars 2 if they don’t own the original.
i didnt play GW1, but this sounds like a good idea, but im not sure if its possible to recreate all mechanics in GW2, you know, its another game with another engine and another ingame systems
@ MaXi.3642 The devs would not have to recreate all of the original guildwars 1 mechanics or content inside guildwars 2, they would only need to fashion a few maps or dungeons in fractal that reflected upon guildwars 1’s greatest moments. Such as show a re-cap, ( back-end story ) of how certain NPC characters or events changed tyria and also how tyria came to be how it is now in guildwars 2.
A friend of mine seen gwen’s grave and did not think much about the character’s name on the stone as he had not experienced gwen NPC in guildwars 1. so i think it be great to have a few fractals or even maybe use the hall of monuments scrying pool to enter moments of the past with friends (maybe even a mini-story with achievements that covers the white mantle w/prince rurik, mussat, lich lord, then move the mini story over to shinro and abbadon and finally the destroyer king) a re-cap so to speak of guildwars history using the current guildwars 2 mechanics. It would help alot of new people including my friend who do not want to buy and play guildwars 1 as they are having so much fun with guildwars 2. It would help them understand the greatness that I and so many others have enjoyed from the beginning of guildwars 1. I hope that makes sense.

I’ve thought this would be an amazing idea for a long time (although back then it was more like the Bonus Mission Pack books rather than fractals). I do have to say that the only real downside is that you would be fighting a vast majority of the Fractals as Humans. You would definitely have to include fractals for other races as well. Perhaps the Norn escape from Jormag, the charr rebellion, the asura fighting to escape the destroyers, etc.. in order to even things out a bit.
I would love so badly to fight Shiro again :| Hope they think about this!
O°v°O
WoW did it with the Caverns of Time…
Really You had to bring up WoW lol.
Quantium Leap did it first LOL ^ troll
Any how what about the batle for Arah. You play and the viezer or the group helping him and you have to fight your way through the masses of the charr invasion before you blow up Arah and sink it.

What i mean.. i don’t want to play reused content in this game. We are in the generation of reboot, remakes, sequels… etc. I’m bored of that.
I want original new content.
There is a difference between just remaking GW1 and adding bits of GW1 into GW2 for nostalgia sake. Although they would have to do it very well, the lore community could blow up if they got stuff wrong in the remakes of certain instances :P
Thunderhead Keep – absolutely
Consulate Docks (A.K.A taking Gandara) – YES, YES, YES!!!!!!
Boss Fights from all the games, could be awesome re-imagined.
glad everyone likes the idea!
but everyone needs to get off this idea of Battle of Lions Arch….i have cold sweats about the amount of mursaat in that mission
:P
This is an amazing idea! Imagine fighting an undead Rurik or Mallyx.
You guys are thinking small. Have you forgotten about the tomb of primeval kings?
I would love to play all 4 levels of that instance in GW2

And the Dragon’s lair! Fight against Glint!

Id love a fractal for the Orr battle and the Kryta battle!

Maybe even you can play the guy before he gets turned into the Lich!

There were only like 5 Mursaat in the Battle for Lion’s Arch, I think you are talking about Jade Armors and White Mantle.
I agree completely. Since the Fractals of the Mists launched. I have thought about Guild Wars 1 inspired battles. However, I do not want battles we have already fought. I want to use the Fractals to see battles and/or events we never actually got to witness in GW1.
Boss Battle against Shiro, but at the Harvest Temple just prior to the Jade Wind. As the players we could take on the persona of Imperial guards or luxons/kurzicks fighting along side Victor, Archemorus, and perhaps even Nika (even if these characters are only implied and not named). At the end of the Boss fight with Shiro, the game can even have Dessa tells the players that she is pulling us out quick because she detects a very unstable event forming ie the Jade Wind.
The inital siege of Orr at the hands of the Charr that we heard about in GW1 but never saw, because we were in Ascalon. This is be awesome to see Orr in the original glory (even for a brief Fractal tour).
There could even be an interesting Fractal in which the players are on a “possible future” like event in which we are humans in Tyria’s past even before GW1 in which we are hunting down the terrible beast: Glint. This is based on the lore that stated that Glint spent hundreds of years in service of her sleeping master Kralkatorrik killing all those adventurers who ventured too close…before converting and becoming the “friend of humanity” she is in GW1.
Well, Glint was changed over by the Forgotten, and that should have happened long before the gods brought humanity to Tyria. I say this because it was Glint who helped the surviving Elder Races hide from the Elder Dragons until they went back to sleep, and there is no evidence yet that the gods arrived in Tyria until the dragons were all slumbering once more.
we need more ideas!
Fractal: The siege Ebonhawke
During the Ascalonian Wars, the Stronghold of Ebonhawke was the humans last stand surviving countless attacks from the Charr Iron Legion and their huge array of War machines. The iron juggernauts still lie around the map and we rarely seen them put to work (only in a few missions).
- Motocycle Gunner
- Quads
- Crawlers (I didn’t find an image yet, they are means of transportation used by the Charr.)
This will make a great fractal. There already is an Ascalon destruction siding the Crarr but now we can stand against them. It would be amazing to against these awesome designed weapons in their attempt to breech the stronghold. Imagine a glorious confrontation against many waves of steel incoming.
Dhuum. This message needs to be longer.
I’d love to fight my own stonemist in fotm. Start outside and fight your way inside and up to the very top to confront a legendary guard who breaks holes in the ground making the battlefield more difficult to maneuver (i.e. you fall to your death if you don’t notice them).
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
man, just the ability to see orr in his heyday would be wonderful for this — a thought i’ve had more than a few times! there’s so much possibility here!
