Free Out Of Combat Trait Resets Please

I’d like this. I’d not have a problem if we still had to pay to respec, I just don’t like the hassle of having to find a trainer to do it.
I’d also like to be able to store 2 or 3 trait sets so at the push of a lazy button I can just drop into one.
This would help with build experimentation too. Builds have become far too inflexible, and the cost to re-trait is partially responsible.
Edit:
Also, changing this would not be unprecedented. The same thing happened in GW1. It initially cost refund points to respec attributes, but they junked this concept and made it free when it proved a barrier to experimentation.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.

I would do something like this:
- you go to a trainer and pay and respec.
- you save the traits builds in a list like in GW1
- you change them freely in out of combat between the saved ones.
In other words, you pay for unlocking one build slot and not the build itself

That’d be great too. And it’s something GW1 eventually added too; a save function to builds. Being able to swap from say, a condition heavy close-mid range build for skirmishing and then to a long range glass cannon power build out of combat would be great.

It wouldn’t negate the cost, but for now, would it work to buy an Adept’s Training Manual or three and then use them to reset points? Or can you not use them after you’ve unlocked the first third of your traits?
oh noes a whole 3.5s at lvl 80 … that’s less then 1 event, if you are that poor that a couple of silver matters you have other more pressing issues.

Won’t work AND it’s more expensive 3.5s to reset or 10s for manual.

you don’t need manuals to respec. just buy the respec option from the NPC. this costs less then the manuals. Manuals are used to unlock the trait tier nothing more.

Right, I meant if you want to respec without visiting a trainer, like in a dungeon or something.
Sorry, but 3.5s to retrait is not the issue. Killing 1 boss in 1 dungeon will give you more than that. The only ‘barrier’ is either people not realizing you can retrait so cheaply (as that’s never explained anywhere), or the fact that you actually have to go out and do that. I have characters that I have multiple sets (like my Warrior has 9 exotic weapons to cover all of my builds), and I reclass according to what I’m about to do. Being able to do that in the field would allow me to actively counter anyone in WvW or PvP by simply running away and coming back. My Mesmer would be in love. I see that as both good and bad – flexibility and dynamics are good. However it would also mean less need of parties to support each other if you can just step back and fill any gap yourself. I’m fine with the way it is now.
