Guild Wars 2

I know a lot of folks, at least personally, who found themselves in a dying guild and joined up with another guild because they knew people in them. Alas, these guilds were on other servers. While guesting works in a pinch, not having the same home world can be problematic. And not everyone can afford to transfer servers. I thought it might be a cool idea to have a few free transfer weekends during the year, for those players who are more casual or can’t afford to buy the gems. Anyway, just a suggestion. It’d help a lot of us out.

The main issue with that is that it risks completely destroying the WvW match-ups (again), due to a high amount of people transferring to the high tier servers.

WvW match ups are already messed up. Trust me, im on the second lowest pop server for wvw. This couldnt hurt WvW anymore then its already hurt. It could even encourage people to move from high to low pop. The ONLY problem i can see is if it was consistent enough, people would swap back and forth like crazy.

Until someone figures out a way to even numbers out in world vs world, little is going to change. Free transfers to the struggling servers is always helpful. I know vabbi, fissure of woe & whiteside ridge in the EU bronze league need a lot more players (as an example).

Which would be more frustrating; being on a server where there is no guarantee of playing time because of massive numbers or being on a server unable to compete due to lack of numbers?

Hmm… Free transfers towards dying servers maybe?
If you allow people to transfer to higher tier servers for free… Eh, you might as well just delete the other servers.
