Hello GW2 community, I would like to suggest a Free Trial of GW2! Explain it..
1 week access to GW2 with restrictions, also IP, e-mail tracking system to avoid people use the trial more than once. Example of restrictions:
- maximum level 10-30 (moving around here)
- use of mail not allowed
- use of trading post not allowed
- not allowed to create/join a guild
- less character slots
- chat restrictions - much more to find.. But why?
This will bring more players to GW2, because it’s kinda to sad to me that people don’t actually know how good game it is. It is really one of the greatest MMORPG’s of all time and people could understand that and that would lead to more customers, larger community and a lot of attention that this game deserves. People will just stick with the trial and then leave..
No, they will not. Once they will see the glory of this game they will soon or later buy it for it’s low price. Well there is a lot of videos showing the game out and so..
That is correct, but there is no such feeling that you get when you actually play the game. The feeling is completly different and it’s just plain awesoem There was a free trial weekend not so long ago..
Indeed there was, but unfortunetly I was away at that time and if I was aware of the free weekend I would of PMed my friend, which is a MMORPG fan and tbh doesn’t believe me that GW2 is any good.
I’d say let them go to 30… BUT… lock Elites… let them view them but can’t unlock them.
Cannot use Map Chat… Can use Local(/say), Party, and Whisper however.
I know chat restrictions suck… but gold spammers will abuse trial accounts to spam Map Chat if they can use it… Personaly I’d rather not see any chat restrictions but the sad reality is if they do a trial-any-time system they will have to use some sort of chat restriction.
They just had a free trial weekend (April 19-21). Now the game is on sale for $39.99 until April 28th. I expect many new sign-ups.
I understand it, but the trial was a bit unexpected and I didn’t see it coming so I missed it.
And with these and more restrictions we could have a trial available at any time, like in a game I do not like to compare with GW2, which got a lot of new customers that way (WoW).
To be honest this sale is not to much of a deal, if you know the market you can get it for €34.94 all the time. That’s where I got it from and currently the sale here is for like €37.99 so yeah.. I’m not informed with how many of threads on this forum actually reach the staff of ANet, so some info about that would be appreciated too, as I do not use the forums so often.

Cap at 29 then. Then they can’t unlock their elites.
And say, party, and whisper would be fine for me. Just flat out getting rid of chat all together would just tell the trial members that all we think they are are gold spammers and I don’t think that’s what ANet wants to do.
A free trial wouldn’t be bad, but if they do that they should have a trial client, with a smaller download.
I don’t believe a smaller download could get in use as then the world wouldn’t be as open as it is, but if there was a way to limit the size of the trial client that could get handy as well.
Also once they register a FREE Trial Account they should have an option to redeem a key code on it, so that they can continue playing from what they have acomplished once they buy the game. Until they buy the game they should aswell be limited from posting on the forums.

Nope, everyone does not win. Many people only pick up trials on MMOs when a friend of theirs already owns the game. Those people won’t have a good experience on a Trail Server because they can’t play the game with their friends.
No whispers. That will make your life really annoying. Gold spammers will see you running around and will start whispering you until they are blocked/reported, adn they can make new accounts later

I believe restricting chat would be enough.. limiting world – I don’t know how good that would come out as GW2 can be proud of the open-world it offers and I believe that would attract more people. But that’s just my 50 cents

I would also make it that trail accounts cannot enter WvW.
During the last trial weekend it was unbelievable how many were using hacks and not even bothering to hide it from anyone, in fact they went out in the open and throwing it in peoples’ faces. It was so bad that they might as well have been carrying a 10ft sign saying “Hey I’m on a trial account and I will abuse hacks until the end of the trial and there is nothing you can do!”
And what can you do? There are still people complaining about hackers who were reported months ago who are still on their server hacking, so what will Anet do wth a trial account, absolutely nothing because even if they were to do something by the time they get to it the trial would be over and the damage done.
Of course we wouldnt have to ask for this if Anet actually fixed these exploit and hacks faster, and making the refinement of the game a priority instead of adding more content which bring more bug and exploits!
Macros, you can use them as long as they arent macros.
Remember to buy the officially endorsed GW2 Steel Series Keyboard, it supports macros!
WvW, we only care if it affects the servers we play on.
