Free "home base" waypoint!
Well.. you can go to any main city free by going to the Heart of the Mist and via the Asura Gate to the main city. But if this feature would work, then you would have to pay for changing home point. And I want a real cost, no mini 15 copper cost.
I suggested this already, that waypoints to main cities(DR, the grove, etc) should be free. A real life buddy of mine is CONSTANTLY complaining about having to travel alll the way back to a main city just to complete a story quest. He has all but written off story quests because he feels like he is getting ripped off by having to pay for that port. He is level 43, I think a day or two ago his story was in the early 20s.
Agree, most of the time I am teleporting I have to open the map and look for the same waypoint over and over, why not just save it as default?

This is a more modest suggestion. Only one ‘home’ waypoint becomes free of use, and as long as it’s advantageous to do so. Then move on and set a new one as needed. Players would have a more convenient way of transport, of their own choice, besides jumping to the Mists or WvW.
There would be tradeoffs. Is it worth to set a home waypoint at a certain location which will cost me more than normal one-way travel? Am I going to stay in an area long enough to be worth it?
This would make for a fairer balance between the required money sinks.

I would rather they allow homes (which would act as a free wp). They could even add a Homeowners tax or something to adjust for the gold sink
You never have to spend a single copper getting to Lion’s Arch or any other major city.
From ANYWHERE:
– Go to heart of the mists (free)
– Walk 10 paces to the LA portal (free)
– Port to Gate Hub Waypoint (free)
– Walk through any of the 5 portals to the main cities (free).
This takes a little longer, and you have to put up with a couple extra loading screens, but you do have the option to either save a little time or save a little silver.
That’s not to say that I don’t agree that it would be nice to have free ports to major cities (we can already do it, just cut out the middleman crap), just making sure nobody spends more than they have to on travel due to ignorance.
