Guild Wars 2

Here are two things I would like to see added to GW2 and reasons why.

1. The ‘Add Friend’ feature is a “request”.
Instead of automatically being added, the other player receives a pop-up that tells them who is adding them, and they have the choice to ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’ / ‘Reject’ like in many MMOs.

Here’s why:

• It’s less creepy: Knowing other people can add you and stalk you without you knowing. (Doesn’t matter how rare this occurs, the idea itself is disturbing)
• It’s more convenient: You don’t have to ask them and make them add you back. They get a simple pop-up and the contact-relationship is established immediately.

2. There should be a chat-channel similar to the Buddy Chat in MapleStory

Here’s why:

• Because GW2 is suppose to be built on facilitating social interaction… Right?
  Currently, I feel there’s a bit of distance between friends who added each other in-game, as the use of Whisper feels overly direct compared to chat-type channels like Map, Guild, and Party. There’s no way to casually speak to friends on a regular basis without interjecting their other chat channels.

• MS’s buddy chat was a channel where messages are sent to any online players on your contact list.
  This made it very easy to ask around to see if anyone wanted to group up, or to just start up random conversations for fun. It allowed players to be a lot more sharing about their gaming experience and I believe this feature was a critical part of why MapleStory exploded in popularity during the previous decade.

• There should be a separate chat channel for ‘Friends’!
  I feel this type of chat-channel would be great for those of us in GW2 who aren’t quite as eager to join a guild right off the bat.

Ahh Maplestory… Last time I checked in Nexon finally responded to my ticket… nearly 5 years after I sent it…

Buddy chat would be very nice. Maybe add alliance chat in future.

Yeah, Nexon’s got terrible customer service, hahaha.

Lol…I remember MapleStory. It was actually the 1st MMO I ever played. :p
