Stop forcing PvE players to PvP.

Stop tying new achievements, completions, rewards, etc. to PvP (unless they are PvP-only and not part of a larger achievement) and change the current ones so they are not tied to PvP.

ANet, this may come as a surprise to you, but not everyone likes to PvP. There should be nothing in PvP zones which is tied to the PvE game. Extending PvE-style elements like exploration into PvP zones just frustrates PvE players while adding an element most PvP players couldn’t care less about. Knowing that a large percentage of players will go for completions, end-game items, and the like, by tying so many of those to PvP, the game is essentially saying, “You will be forced to PvP at end-game”.

If you’re going to intentionally screw over your players, maybe you should do them the courtesy of telling them this is how it will be first.

Stop forcing PvE players to PvP.
(MMO after MMO, and no game company seems to get this point…)

So…an Anet agent went to your house and put a gun against your head and forced you to do pvp?

World exploration is not a pve or neither a pve achievement, it’s an exploration one. One imposed to you by the game designers, if you choose to complete it you should do it under their terms, and if you don’t like it or feel that you’re unable to do it then simply don’t do it.

They aren’t forcing you into anything?
sPvP is the only true PvP and that is 100% optional. Yes there are achievement rewards for it. But there is nothing in game from forcing you to do them and they are separated into a PvP specific tab.

As for WvW, it is as much PvE as it is PvP. If you feel compelled to map complete WvW zones like I do then just monitor the WvW status and pick a time when your world is doing really well, then you don’t have to worry about the enemy players.

And there is absolutely NOTHING forcing you to PvP at end game? end-game items belong in PvE. Anet has specifically separated your PvE gear from your PvP gear specifically to that end…

If you would like to explain what specific elements of PvE you think are tied to PvP then I would be most interested to hear. Because I am yet to really come across anything forcing me to PvP…

It’s a bit funny that there are actually people who have some kind of compulsion to do all the possible dailies/achievements.

The monthly reward isn’t even that hard to get. You can pretty much get the monthly WvW kills by sticking with some zerg and tagging enemies with AoEs.

And the exploration reward is just that: exploration. That tends to involve participating in things. In case you didn’t notice, you also need Skill Challenges and Vistas to get the exploration points. And is that fair? How is it fair that poor old me, who just wants to see all the beauty of the world is forced to jump around like a circus freak, or that I am forced to duel various enemies or commune with arbitrary locations? That’s just wrong!

funny thing about PvP though is it takes place in the mists which are not part of the world . UW and FoW weren’t needed for cartographer title in GW 1 so why should areas in the mists be needed for map completion in GW 2

lore doesent support it though . the Lore states that the mists are not part of the world so again why should it have to be explored for World completion. when the games own lore doesent support it theres an issue

Because, maybe, the game’s lore has nothing to do with the achievement.

I’m fairly sure that it doesn’t, as lore has nothing to do with swinging your sword and killing NPCs 10, 100, 500, or 1000 times. Honestly, lore and achievements are separated, as achievements are milestones accomplished for in-game actions that usually have absolutely zero basis in lore — this holds true for GW2’s achievements.

You’re not exploring the reachable world covered by the game’s lore, you’re exploring the game world given to us by ANet. Hence, the achievement in its current form.

If the mists are not part of the world, how come every time I’m going from the mists to LA, there’s this dude standing in Lion’s Arch asking me to defend my world in the mists-war?

Obviously, NPCs in Tyria are aware that the mists exist, They will know about WvW. Thus, WvW and the maps it occurs on are part of the “reachable world” for the inhabitants of Tyria. Thus, they are part of the canon and lore.

Here’s the fun thing about achievements:
They are not made to reward you for doing something you like.
They are achievements. Not minute accomplishments because “meh, I don’t like to get my clothes all dirty in Battle of Khylo”
Want to achieve something?
Then do it.
A star next to your name? Earn it. If you don’t pvp, you haven’t earned it. Simple as that.

To be fair though they are forcing PvP players to do PVE content by a much greater value since the actual world has ZERO PvP going on in it. Ive yet to be doing a jumping puzzle while fighting off a pesky mesmar. But now I mentioned it that sounds like fun

At least i think they should remove the Vistas and POI requirements for 100% world completion from WvW.. Its just a pain in the kitten and now since you can’t switch server every 24 hour, you either have to wait a week to get the other sides POI and Vistas. Or wait for the servers to switch..
Remove POI, Vistas and Skill Challenges from WvW!
