Hi to all who will read this.

I find it VERY important for a game to be well optimized. Now I know that it is always a bid challenge for game devs to decide which game engine and codes to use because sometimes they have to think about console porting, multiplayer servers and multiple ramifications we are not always aware of…

YET, nowadays even though people have different PC setups, most PCs make use of GPUs to run games along with the help of the CPUs. Games are supposed to distribute the work load well between the 2 making sure the GPU is used to its full potential to yield optimal Frames per second and fluid performance.

It is a known thing that guild wars 2 is WAY too CPU intensive, therefore I ask that the game devs look into the possiblity of further optimizing the game so that the FPS won’t drop to 20fps in places like lion’s arch… or for instance, rather than shadows being rendered by the CPU, they should be rendered by GPUs which have way more threads and capabilities to achieve the work that has to be done…

Basically, please optimize your game better, I know that in exploring areas (forests and whatnot the FPS is super decent) but in places with many players, there is WAY too much load being put on the CPU and not enough load being put on the GPUs which could help increase the performance by a LOT…

Really well said. This game has nice graphics but really they aren’t better then most modern games we can see and most modern games are far better optimised then Guild Wars 2. I mean I know you get cash from Nvidia and those companies if you make games for their best cards only but meh players are more important imo.

Absolutely agree with this. The game is not even trying to render everything on screen either. The culling of characters in PVE is actually breaking immersion. Town looks deserted. Imagine how much more epic the Claws of Jormag battle would be if you can actually see everyone fighting him.

FFXI is a very old game and they have huge population back then. They don’t have this much culling issue and their world looks much more lively simply because you see more people around you.

The culling is quite an annoying issue. I do love the flashiness of spells, but it comes with a heavy cost, there are many champion/world bosses that have no indication of what they are about to do (or you can’t see it due to all the flashiness). As nice as it looks, would be nice to have it toned down a bit (such as off, low, medium, high) so the player could select how much flashiness they want to see. Also, with that in mind, adding announcements to bosses such as you see with jormag (watch out, it’s about to breath; so we all know to back off quickly). Mechanics like this make the fights more intuitive and interesting, less random.

I’m running on a high end computer, and granted I don’t lag and get 50fps+ pretty consistently even in large culling situations, it still bothers me to no end that culling even is a factor.
