The premise is that magic find gear should downlevel you past the level cap imposed on whatever area you’re on, with the plus side being that the loot, gold, experience, and karma you get while wearing the gear is boosted to a maximum possible level 80 if on a total magic find loadout. It could also be much more sensitive to the anti-farming code that gives bonus exp for rarely killed mobs.

People who are downleveled but have great gear often dominate lower level areas anyway to the point of boredom, and further level scaling produces a challenge for them, just like increasing enemy boss level limits in GW1 made hard mode challenging and mostly unfarmable. People who actually belong at this level will be able to provide meaningful support in dynamic events and heart missions instead of tagging along with level 80s bored out of their minds finishing up the explorer achievement.

This takes people out of Orr and puts them back into the rest of the world painstakingly created without introducing newbie-unfriendly events, diverting players to a new instance that drains zone population, or having to make endgame area after endgame area to satisfy the ever increasing population that reaches 80 and wants to make level appropriate progress.

I’m sure this will get lost in the many suggestion requests, so I’m just putting it here for people to hone and opine until a better suggestion method is put in place (if that ever happens).

Well … the tier 6 rare mats do not drop well in Orr without any boost in MF – ast least that is my experience. So if you run around in Orr with your level being reduced … how would you rate your survivability?

Don’t run around in Orr. With this idea, you can run around basically anyplace and have tier 6 rares drop, especially if you’re fighting in areas that aren’t already farmed to oblivion. You won’t need to downlevel as much (or at all) in Orr or Cursed Shore because the dynamic events and enemies are already at level 80 and the loot is already at the highest possible scale, so making it just a bit harder for yourself is enough to increase drop rate if you really don’t want to venture into other areas.

Imagine if instead of people huddling around the same Jormag runs all the high level players are off frantically searching for the less popular dynamic events and dungeons all around the map that people are struggling with. Suddenly, we don’t have a problem of 1000 people spamming a single high yield boss and nobody at all doing a time consuming fetch quest.

In addition, dungeon parties will be a lot more successful because you can immediately tell when someone is wearing magic find gear – and in certain cases they may not even be allowed to go in the dungeon due to the level cap. If they switch in the dungeon everyone will know it, so it will additionally provide a deterrent there.
