GW2 should draw inspiration from 2 recent releases
GW2 is not loot driven though, a Rare with power/precision/vit is going to have the same amount as another Rare with power/precision/vit of the same level. So really you’re going to get more vendor loot from it, maybe the occasional thing worth selling on the Trading Post. But you’re not going to “feel” different or more powerful just cuz your bags are full. Or is there another point?
I am a torchlight fan, haven’t bought 2 yet been playing this game for now.
There is a fundamental philosophy and game balance difference between a PvP game like Guild Wars, and a more “fun centric” game where the impact on other players is less crucial, like Torchlight 2. The fact TL2 can be heavily modified and basically “cheating” is left to the individual as to wheter to go down that road seperates it from many other games.
Perhaps at some point the PvE and PvP aspects of GW2 can be seperated enough as to where adding more, powerful and varied items to the PvE game has no direct impact on the PvP game. This isn’t hard to envision, I believe such was passed on in order to bring the game the designers had envisioned.
Currently fixing the constant recurring bug issues, tweaking out the balance adjustments and meeting other current demands on the game as envisioned will take precedence.
Not trying to invalidate your hopes or suggestions, just looking at it from the evident original intent of the game.

GW2 is skill driven.
build well, play well.
this is your endgame.
eventually, duels and hardcore pvp will separate losers from winners.
It’s not so much that you need tiered loot or continually better loot, it’s just that loot rewards aren’t really rewards, since you just get junk most of the time that you could get just killing random mobs.
I don’t think people are saying give me something better than what’s in the game or game system, they’re just saying, if you are getting a reward, like for a zone completion, it should feel like a reward, not just some extra junk just like the junk you just go while doing the activity.
If you go do a zone completion and gather, you probably found a few random greens and piles of mats while doing it. So getting a stack of mats and a few more random greens isn’t all that remarkable.
(Note that for me the act of finishing zone completion is a reward itself, the extra loot for it is a bonus, it’s just that it’s often such a joke that it’s like, why bother, it’s not really a reward, it’s just more junk.)
Treasure chests should feel like they contain…treasure…not the same vendor trash you get off of generic mob #100000. At least some of the time. Some people grind the same events endlessly so obviously the chests can’t always be jackpots.
a PvP game like Guild Wars
GW2 is a PvP game? That’s news to me.

Duels? In a class-based game where classes will never be balanced 1 vs all others? What are you talking about?
It sure would be nice to get relevant gear, but it’s still a means to an end. Trade up for it. If you receive everything you wish for, where’s the incentive to go out and get anything?
GW2 is a PvP game? That’s news to me.
Then that is unfortunate for you. I am sure you researched the system requirements before buying this game, you should have researched the game itself. Guild Wars isn’t called Guild Wars for the dungeons and dynamic PvE content.
Guild Wars has always been about PvP, that is the end game. The only reason there are 80 levels to grind through in GW2 is that is what many of the GW1 fans cried about, more levels. Why? 20 was fine. They cried cause 20 is a number to low to brag about to your WoW buddies when chest thumping in the local sandbox.
GW 1 and 2 are PvP games.
