I would just like to suggest implementing a system that lets you level up alt characters by playing on your main character once it has reached level 80.
Leveling up alts is becoming increasingly difficult as more and more players get level 80 characters and the lower level zones get abandoned. When I search for quick level up tips online people always suggest going to Kessex Hills or Harathi Hinterlands because they say there are always events happening there. But there aren’t anymore! Because no one is there! Few players means few events triggering!
I love the world of Tyria, and wish I could just run around exploring it all the time with my different alt chars. But there is this pressure to focus my attention on things that will gain me the fastest amount of experience, rather than things that are the most fun.
I’ve done the work of getting one character to level 80, and I’ve unlocked all of my skills. Now I’m getting extra skill points that I will probably never use because I’m not that into crafting, and gaining experience that is going completely to waste.
If I could choose to give my experience to one of my alt characters, I could level them up and empower them to gain more access to a more diverse variety of zones where I could have some fun encounters I’ve yet to experience.
Maybe people think this would be some kind of imbalance or something. I don’t, but if that’s the determination maybe you could make the max level you can level up an alt to with shared exp somewhere below 80. Like level 65 or 70. That way you could level your alts up to that point, but then you’d have to play each one to level them up the rest of the way.
I’m just completely disappointed with the emptiness of most of the zones in Tyria. When the game was releasing you were talking about how scaled leveling would keep the whole world fun and challenging and players would be encouraged to return to lower level zones. That’s totally what I would do if I didn’t feel the pressure to grind up my alts! But that’s not what the majority of players are doing. There is almost never more than 1 or 2 other people in the zones I’m going into on my alts to try and level and do personal story.
I can’t level up my alts because trying to level in Guild Wars 2 is a complete chore when you’re playing PvE alone. It’s only full of dynamic event goodness when lots of people are in the zones with you.
Please, ANet. Please consider implementing a system where altaholics like me can get all their characters to a point where they can start having fun with other players and exploring more zones in the land of Tyria.
I hope you’ll seriously consider this suggestion.
Have a nice day and thanks for your time.
