I suggest to differentiate the gathering tool icons from each other.
just small change in the colour of each tool’s level will be fine .
I usually bring all types of gathering tools with me in my inventory, and when i want to switch from Copper Mining Pick to Darksteel Mining Pick .. yea , it takes time till I find it .

Been brought up before, but yes, it would be very convenient. It’s the main reason I choose to use Ori picks for pretty much everything post lvl 65-ish on alts.

The color scheme mirroring the current colors of their respective ingots would probably be fine when it comes to differentiating between them.

For some reason I start imagining golden pickaxes… In theory, that can’t be very efficient at all considering gold is a very soft metal…

But yeah! I support this!
