Hey there Anet folks, suggestion:
How about adding a +25% Speed Boost (out of combat ONLY) item in the Gem store? Perhaps 1 stack of 25 1-hour boosters for 400 Gems, or something along those lines.
For many classes it will eliminate the mind-numbing tedium of having to use all the gimmicky and carpal tunnel inducing acrobatics we players go through to maintain some sort of speed boost when traveling while out of combat. And as an out-of-combat only item, it will NOT affect the outcome of any WvW or PvP combat, since once your toon is in-combat, his movement speed is solely determined by his trait and gear choices.
I’ll bet something like this would be a huge seller, and you guys would make a nice profit. And I feel pretty confident that a very large percentage of your player base would be very grateful. Win-Win.

I’m sorry to tell you but a massive part of WvW is simply movement oriented as seeing as zergs with perma swiftness is already a pain in the kisser I think I’d rather not see this there at all. Sorry.

I have 5 different toons and WvW regularly, both roaming and zerging … there is not a single toon I have where I cannot keep at least 25% movement speed up (and with many, perma-swiftness at +33% speed). The only thing my suggestion would provide is my NOT having to (for example) endlessly switch kits on my engineer to achieve it, or the constant weapon flipping on my warrior, or the … ect. The suggestion of an OUT-of-combat speed booster option provides ONLY convenience, and zero in-combat advantage.

Nope they just need to make a compromise for the no mounts thing and make it a skill for every class pick a utility and put it on there it’s ridiculous not to at this point honestly.
They did it for rangers they might as well do it for us all.

If they picked a utility like say Rocket Boots or Slick Shoes we’d finally be able to get rid of that madatory speedy kit requirement just to move around the world.
That would be terribly overpowered. Many classes cannot get 100% uptime swiftness unless you choose your items / slot skills / traits a certain way. Being able to have perma-swiftness is a part of your build, and allowing people to buy permanent 25% speed instead would invalidate all builds which already use perma-swiftness.
Not to mention it’d make all the speed signets worthless. (Speed boosts usually don’t stack.)
I think a lot of you folks are not reading my suggestion correctly:
It’s an OUT of combat speed boost …. OUT, as in, you are NOT fighting anyone or an NPC … you are just moving around the world without aggro from mobs or enaging folks in WvW fights … and the instant you do aggro a mob or engage in combat in WvW … the boost does NOT work … its ZERO, zilch nada … at that point your movement speed is determined ONLY by the trait and gear you have chosen.
No build, sigil, rune or signet becomes worthless, not at all … they continue to provide their bonus when its actually needed: while fighting

Again, as you’ve already been told, being able to run around faster is a huge advantage for scouting and troop movement in WvW. Plus, people are going to have a lot harder time getting you INTO combat if you have constant 25% speed boost all the time at no tradeoff cost to your equipped traits / skills.
You are talking about a pay to win buff in case you don’t realize it. You would have to buy it if you play WvW to stay any sort of competitive.

Thinking that “In-combat” is the only time movement speed is considered an advantage pretty much negates anything you will ever say on the subject. You spec for kit movement for the movement because why? Because movement is a huge advantage even out of combat. There should be some cost to advantages where cost=/=gems.
