So, I believe that unlimited tools should not be souldbound. I would still want them for every character because of the effects, they don’t have to be soulbound. My problem is, I have the consortium sickle, on my mesmer that looks like Harley Quinn, (http://i.imgur.com/OLjw3vs.jpg) and now there is a jack-in-the-box scythe, which I cannot pass up, but it will mean my consortium sickle is a soulbound waste of space. Which really sucks since I bought it with real money!

What do ya’ll think about this?

I agree. These type of purchases should be accountbound not soulbound. Sickle, pick and axe are worth about $30 (almost the price of the game on sale). I don’t play my alts often because I cannot stand being without my unlimited tools/salvage and bag space (I also have unlimited salvage and full bag slots) so when I am bored with my Guardian, I will likely quit instead of re-rolling.

Well I just bought the Jack-in-the-box scythe. Consortium sickle is now a paperweight.

sigh.

It is an issue wanting to change around sickles and picks. I’m sure a few people have bought doubles for similar reasons, such as necros buying the BonePick. Since ArenaNet is not likely to change them to account bound (since it is a money making opportunity, plus many people bought multiple ones and would complain/want to be compensated) maybe they could add Gathering Splitter to the gem store and it could cost 500gems. The splitter would return the gathering tool back to it’s Account bound Soulbound on use status. I feel like it would be a reasonable compromise since players would have the option to change them, people who already bought multiple ones can’t really complain since they didn’t switch them to account bound, and ArenaNet still has it’s money maker.
