So, this is an idea taken from browser games, which I have never seen in an MMO (if anyone in the community has seen it, feel free to let me know, always happy to learn new stuff), but I feel the concept would fit in well with Guild Wars 2.

The idea is relatively simple, and could be a lot of fun, both for the community, and the developers. Basically, for events, Anet could release actual Skins for the characters themselves, which would permanently replace their normal skin tone and fur color.

Say for Halloween, one year they could have some form of Zombie epidemic hit, released by the Mad King, and during the event players could buy the Boxes/BLC’s in order to get a chance at a rare skin which would make the players body pale, their eyes blackened and sunken looking, and perhaps with visible bite marks and blood on them. For Charr, their fur could turn whiteish in spots and have blood on the tips around where the “bites” would be.

This could also work in Living Story events, where say Elementals are involved, and the skin could either be a Gift for helping them, or a Curse from fighting them. Fire scalded people could gain red rings around their eyes, and have flame veins along their arms and legs. Lightning scorched would look similar, but with a blue and white scheme. Earth bound players could get a brownish cast to their skin, and have a pebbled look to their hands and feet. For Charr, their fur could gain tips or hints of red and yellow for Fire, blue and white for Lightning, and…well, I am sure the designers would come up with something cool for Earth.

The skins could either be one time use items which could be removed with a total makeover kit, if the items were relatively easy to obtain, or they could be an infinite use item which could reskin the character if they ever decided they wanted it back after a total makeover if they were very hard to obtain. (Mixing the two seems like it might be a bad idea, but eh, I am no developer).

Anyway, it is just an idea, which I think would be cool, and could add some decent diversity to players. I did a search on the forum to see if it had been suggested, and it turned up nothing, but the search engine is a little wonky, so if this is a duplicate idea, just lemme know!
