GEMSTARTER:
Based on kickstarter, which has been widely successful. The Gemstarter Program is a way to allow players to choose and fund permanent content additions to the game.
CONCEPT:
The concept is simple, there will be a new collaborative development thread that allows players to submit new ideas to the Gemstarter Program. The top ideas will be selected and added to the game as buildable projects that players can donate gems toward the completion to. Each project will have a set of milestones that shows what type of content will be added as those milestones are hit:
EXAMPLE:
A Gemstarter Project for a new Hunting Lodge in Queensdale is selected. A new charr prospector appears in the Queensdale area and accepts gem donations that will be used to fuel the project:
Milestone 1: 1000 Gems
-The foundation of the hunting lodge is built, new hardwood and softwood log gathering nodes appear around the lodge area for players to mine.
Milestone 2: 10,000 Gems
-The lower level of the hunting lodge is built. Players can enter the lodge where there are intractable chairs and an NPC that sells critter minipets.
Milestone 3: 15,000 Gems
-Upper level is added, there are closable doors and lodging rooms. A new bounty board is added to the main room where players can take bounties that summon special champion mobs that appear across the krytan zones and drop new weapon skins.
Milestone 4: 20,000 Gems
-A great hunt large event is added. Performing bounty board quests now awards tokens that can be used to purchase new hunting lodge armor skins.
The top three contributors will have their character portraits added permenantly to the wall of the lodge for all to see.
What is built through Gemstarts projects may even differ from server to server, allowing some playerbases to put resources towards different projects than another.
