I have been playing the Mesmer and enjoy it greatly… however there are some major issues with this character.
On the whole, the damage output of a mesmer is greatly lesser than other classes… significantly so. As such there is a very large tendency for foes to respawn before the mesmer has a chance to kill more than 4. At one stage I found myself trying to tackle a dredge boss only to be continuously swamped by the repeated respawning of other dredge. Another time I found myself trying to perform (without success) the ritual that raises Saul from the dead only to have to kill the same 6 ghosts several times before abandoning the tomb.
There are two options that would increase the enjoyment of playing this class… either increase the output damage to match other classes, OR, increase the time between respawns in order to allow the mesmer to kill some foes before there is a respawn.
Finally, there is a need for rewards to be suitable to the class receiving them. It seems that each time I receive a reward it includes a piece of medium armor… which is no good for a mesmer that uses light armor. This can be solved by either simply making awards suitable for the class receiving them or by offering a choice of armor types (heavy, medium, light) as is done during the early stages of the game.
