Get rid of auto attack
I don’t see how that would work. I don’t right click on my enemies to attack and I also manually click 1 to attack into the air when autoattack doesn’t have a target in range.

Well they could as well let you bind it to any other key. For now I think it’s just a waste of skill slot, which could be used in alot of better way.
To some degree I can see where you are coming from.
A example would be you click on a mob and there is some key that you press like… R for example that starts the auto-attack that comes from the weapon or attunement you are using.
You also could use the R or whatever button you want to use to do the auto attack without a target so you can find Mesmer’s or what have you.
That keeps going until the skill is interrupted by you using one of the 1-5 abilities. It’s a sort of nifty idea though I don’t think it will change.
Well I take that back it could change, but such a massive change to abilities all across the board would be something that comes in like a expansion.
The idea is sound, but implementation details have problems. For instance, skill/1 is “free” as far as time/etc goes. You can tap it over and over until you get in range and to pick the nearest target if you have the right options set. And, there are people that keep the auto turned off.
I think as a first step, reworking auto-attack for all classes to be lower DPS than skills would go a long way toward making those classes more fun to play (ranger being the most obvious example for a class that can’t beat it’s own auto-attack).
I don’t autoattack ever. :p
