Give BRazilians their own server
Strange, i’m from brazil and have 0 delay. How do you know that there is a delay? You already played gw2 in brazil?
When I bought Gw2 Anet stated that only NA and maybe Euro players would be able to play on the “American” servers.
You guys went against your word and opened the servers up to other countries.
Lets recap on what happened to the League of Legends community upon opening their servers to Brazilians. The community went downhill and players were not able to properly communicate with each other.
Please give Brazilians their own servers, but allow them to play in the NA region for WvW.
They have delays on the NA server making them semi handicap in WvW.
so… they made an international game where only the people from two continents can play? :| Doesn’t make sense to me. And before brazilians get their own server, I demand an asia/oceanic one, for, you know, the other majority of people on the other side of the world. =/
and the problem with the lol thing is that riot rushed in giving them their own server, which turned out to be worse than connecting to the NA servers. But I think the issue has been fixed for some time now.
I think people from Ulan Bator, Mongolia should have their own server. Maybe Austin, Texas too.

No we need hot Brazilian women playing on NA servers.
I hardly (if never) get any delay, have you tried playing GW2 from here to say that?

Nah We Texans are ok.

You aren’t special snowflakes. You don’t get your own servers if China, Russia and South Africa don’t get their own servers.

AFAIK the only promise made before launch (that I can remember reading) was basically that euro players would get euro servers by default, while everyone else would get NA.
BTW, hello from Venezuela..
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
Meh. We’ve got physical server racks in NA and EU, IIRC. Problem with that spec is that you’re going to have nations – and their players – overlapping. Speaking from a USA mindset, I’ll game with/against anyone, assuming we have some ability to communicate. Of course, my opinion’s probably a bit biased, seeing as my first MMO
(Forsaken World) had, by default, a large Chinese presence.
Effectively: We’re all gamers, why not attempt to coexist, neh?
Other 80s: Any but Warrior
Well, at least in my guild if some members can’t communicate, those who knows a bit of english can intermediate the conversation for the rest. In WvW, specifically, following or giving orders is pretty much straightforward, yesterday a group of ours played with [Choo], [TW], and [FEAR], and it was a blast!

The people who didn’t play Aion, like me , don’t understand your reference.
@Geotherma, I know lots of people like you and what you try to highlight, but as you already stated it’s not all brazilians that act or do things like that. Actually you’re bringing up a very disgusting stereotype that hopefully ArenaNet doesn’t agree with, there are thousands of people here who have respect for MMORPGs and because there were incidents in the past involving one country it doesn’t mean that should be extended to every other game released.
Not only in Brazil, but many countries have bad people who act in a childish nosense way and can bring bad things to the game (RMT’s don’t even exist here), if you generalize that behavior from one game to all the others then you’re taking it a bit too far.
I hope you change your mind, you might be missing out many friends and actually nice people.

Like I said I’m not against all of them, that would be stereotyping and wrong. The private servers consisted greatly of Brazilian and other players who hacked the game frequently. It isn’t on any specific race or country, but the majority of the ones that people complained about in Aion was the br population. Again, I don’t believe every person of any place is bad, but the private servers are who mostly came to Aion when it went free to play and ruined it. Those players were used to hacking and botting without consequence, so they brought that mentality to the game. And by those people I mean the scores of people who made up the private servers (who were from all around the world).
Another problem, though small but can become larger, is the language. Brazilian players often talk in their native language of which most others can’t understand. Many times in the other game they were talking bad about players or even Americans (I know this through friends who speak and understand the language). It created a barrier between the two, and since GW2 does not have auto translate like FFXI did, we cannot effectively communicate with them unless we know each others language.
I, like most players and people find it very rude for people to speak in another language around me. When the server clearly states US I believe the language in /map etc should be that of the majority. If they want to speak in their native tongue there is nothing wrong with whispering each other or talking in party. But in no way is it fun to do a dungeon run with 4 people who are talking the whole time in a language we can’t understand.
I have no problem talking to people who are only a little fluent in English, I even don’t mind helping teach them what we are saying or phrases that could help. This was a great feature in FFXI’s auto translate. But to just have long drawn out convos in /map or /party while leaving out other players feels wrong and a little rude.

Well, with my experience since GW2’s closed beta is that language is extremely relative in almost every possible way.
One can speak in their native language with someone else who understands it, it’s a 1-to-1 conversation and it doesn’t harm anyone, I can, for instance, express my feelings about something in portuguese when talking to a guildie, no one MUST know what I’m talking about because I’m not talking to them.
99% of brazilian guilds are very disciplined about teaching their members to talk in english whenever necessary, but we can’t obligate others do to as we instruct (just like in real world, because of something called free will).
Besides, I’ve seen many foreign language guilds recruiting in their own language in /map chats and yet no one came to the forums to stereotype them. Aion is/was Aion, GW2 is GW2, I didn’t even play Aion but I’m sure GW2 public is way more mature than Aion’s (we have a GW2 brazilian main site/forum, the quality of discussion shows).
You should separate what one is allowed to do, and what you expect them to do.
And just to get offtopic very quickly now, in-game relationships don’t translate in what people post on forums; the devs can enter the game and see for themselves how everything is going there, I’m quite sure they won’t see anything that bad at all. People must get over the hatred for each other.

Sorry lol. When brazil was opened to aion in camea flood of people who were on private “illegal” servers who used hacks and cheats constantly. With them came tons of RMT because of free to play, and the LFG channel became a RMT/Brazilian chat channel. And now the game is overrun with rampant RMT, spam, and hackers/botters. The entire Seattle office was fired, and there isn’t much hope for that game anymore. Also the first wave of BR players complained everything was too hard because the private servers basically gave you everything.
Now I’m not saying all br players are bad or hackers, but you could clearly see the game changed in a very bad way as a whole. In fact my legion and many others (200 + people legions) left because of all the drama and problems caused. I believe NCsoft opened br access to allow for more cash shop revenue, which it may or may not have worked. But either way people despise that game for what it has become. Free to play, and encouraging certain areas who are known for blatant hacks/rmt hurt games. There is no real answer as it would be unfair to just block out brazil or other country’s, but this is what I’ve seen in my experience with that game. So I very much hope GW2 never becomes f2p, and sticks to its strong B2P model with “convenience” not “win” shop. Once the RMT come they start losing employees to battling the sea of bots and rmt for f2p games. And thus taking away from development and everything else.
Yes, guy you said thats brazilians are booters and thats we overrun servers, this is not right i play mmo had more then 10 years i never using bot and this is a ofense to me. We know thats have a lot of booters in WxW in NA servers and all this guys dont be a brazilians.
I take a look in WxW if you want one eg:
One Havok with 5 players from maguma server x 5 players from kaineng makes lag the map, my pc had 32gb ram, 3 nvidia video cards 1g each, sdisc hd, core i7 processor and i need play LOWEST in wxw becouse this booters makes a high lag in wxw. I have one elementalist and my Meteor never hit external walls from inner wall. But when we get hills per 21 hours i see elementalist from maguma make hits in our inner wall from external walls. So I regret that I did not take Screenshots.
And others strange things. sieges thats desapear when we building in gate.
I start think in find other game to play, my fears are thats gw2 turn something like Lineage II BOOTERS LAND.
Arenanet please take a lot of care with GW2 we wait many years to play this game and booters stay take control from servers.
Market is inflated way things are going, soon we will have wipe the server and that would suck.

Selfish Brazilian! Y U NO ASK for a server for South America!!!!!
Greetings from Argentina :P
This thread smells of nationalism and racism. Please begone.

You have no delay on your screen, but on our screens you basically teleport across it. The Brazilian state on my server (Darkhaven) has gotten exceptionally ridiculous and bad. So many Brazilians on our server that we can’t communicate with, who don’t play cooperatively, and who flood chat with Portuguese.
Not to mention 9 times out of 10 when I see and report a botter it’s from one of the (now many) Brazilian guilds on the server. Map chat being flooded with guild recruitment spam from them is great too. You know, on account of the Portuguese.

Um… How about having a couple of servers for South America, but not FORCING people that live there to transfer?
I mean, I am sure a lot of players must feel more comfortable when playing with people that speak their language.
However, I think that giving people options is always good. I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t like to be forced to go play in other servers.
I must say that I never had problems in Tarnished Coast with players from an specific country.

Go to Darkhaven and within 5 minutes you’ll see Portuguese recruitment spam in LA map chat or a flood of Brazilian guild members teleporting around on your screen from the lag.
Also go to Frostgorge where there’s the great place to farm Corrupted Lodestones – you’ll see at least 2-3 botters from a certain BR guild on our server.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Well, I see how that might be upsetting. However, I don’t think the whole brazilian (and maybe south-american) community should be punished because of a few rotten apples.
I have no idea of how big these communities are, I give you that, but I’m sure that most of them are good players.
