This is strictly from a dedicated WvW player perspective….

Why give the 2 most powerful classes more power in Torment?

I can understand Necros getting it, and approve, but Thieves and Mesmers? Seriously

Give Torment to Warriors and Engis who basically sit at the bottom of the heap for WvW?

Quoting:

“When possible, we try very hard not to take away too much potency from popular builds because we know that a lot of people enjoy them – but occasionally we do need to bring some abilities down in power.”

“Necromancer Death Shroud 5”

" In looking to expand the condition diversity of thieves and mesmers, we decided to include Torment skills for those two professions as well."

I only see “up in power” not “down in power”.

Not sure what you’re trying to say warkeil, but torment is supposed to do more damage if you move, so against a thief you now can’t move to do anyhting about the fact that they’re just hitting you, running away in stealth, healing, hitting you, etc. because you can’t chase them without punching yourself in the face, you can’t more around to swing at air with your melee weapons without punching yourself in the face…

I am trying to say that even though they say they want to balance things/classes, they have just given one more awesome condition that thieves (the example you gave) can use. Because they aren’t hard to catch/hit already…

Yea, thieves are already annyoing enough to deal with and mesmers are at a state where it’s not even fun to duel them in WvW. I would really like to see torment on maybe sword offhand #4 skill where you throw your sword and it applies torment+bleeds? Idk just an idea but i agree with OP

Engineers are already probably the most viable for condition builds in pvp due to their wide array of conditions (engi p/p has a different condition on every skill!), they probably don’t need torment as much as trait fixes (scope anyone?) or skill changes (rocket boots and gadgets in general). Torment would probably be kinda useless on a warrior as well, since their weapons generally scale much better with power than condition damage (although I guess change in that area wouldn’t be bad, but would need more than just slapping on torment which doesn’t really fit).

Meanwhile having torment available for condition theives would make them more viable since they lack condition variety (just bleed and maybe poison, a cripple here and there) and torment on mesmer is probably just helping bring former confusion mesmers out of the nerf rut.

Remember that Torment is a condition guys, and that it should scale off condition damage. Backstabs, larcenous strike spam, shatters, and phantasms aren’t going to have huge damage bursts from this at all if even available for them.
