Gold-Fed Acc-bind-o-Matic
I’m not sure if this should be a gemstore item, or even an item. I would suggest to make this an ability for crafters and bind the abillity to the crafting level.
To unsoulbound a greatsword you need to be a weaponsmith, and to unsoulbound a staff you need to be an artificer. (trinkets need jewellers, back items to all 3 armor crafters)
Recipes are automaticly available when you level your crafting up.
level 50: you can turn soulbound masterwork tems into accountbound (soulbound on equip)
Level 200: you can turn soulbound rare items into accountbound (soulbound on equip)
Level 400: you can turn soulbound exotic items into accountbound (soulbound on equip)
Level 500: you can turn soulbound legendary and ascended items into accountbound (soulbound on equip)
The recipes do not change the items directly. You craft an item suitable for the thing you want to unsoulbound.
So for greatswords you need something else then for an axe.
All recipes require a stack of materials (woodplanks, cured leather, ingots) and an item from the crafting merchant. The items are as you are proposing going up in price for the higher quality’s. (but keep in mind you also need a stack of materials, so a bit lower priced to compensate). Then in the discovery tab you can select your weapon/armorpiece/trinket (even if it is in the bank) and the crafted item to combine them. and you recieve the accountbound (soulbound on equip) item back.
So basicly a good plan, but I want this to be kept out of the tradepost. be challenging but very doable.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
not a bad thought.. still my suggestion would remove more gold from the game, so i “hope” anet likes it :P
anyway.. my point is – ppl really want a way to use soulbound stuff on toons too :/
15 gold for account binding an exotic from souldbound. it would be cheeper to buy a new exotic for more than 99% of exotics. make it between 5 and 15 gold. depending on a few factors.
I’d like this, but I agree that the prices are way too high. 10 silver tops for a masterwork. 30 – 40 silver for rares, 1g for exotics, 5g for ascended. I think legendary items should be exempt from this personally (it represents that character’s long term efforts) but a good price on that would be like, 10g to 20g.
I’d prefer this were an in-game merchant service instead of a gem-store item. The crafting idea above is also cool and makes sense with the mechanics of the game.
Having it through crafting would put some value back into it besides the ascended weapons, so I like that idea better. But anything more expensive than 2 crystals or just straight up a new exotic will be pretty pointless.
I wouldn’t mind this, but I disagree with roachsrealm. If GW2 needs a goldsink, it should be a goldsink, not pocket change. ANET probably doesn’t really want this to happen, and definitely not frequently, so I would support the high prices. Sure it may be cheaper to buy something else off the TP—go do that, then. I don’t mind goldsinks I won’t participate in, though.
Was gonna post an idea like this because having soulbound stuff on char’s you don’t play is terrible, especially on stuff that’s no longer attainable.
I think it might be better as just a consumble though, Anet would probably prefer that anyway since it’d make more money.
Either way I just want SOME way to moving soulbound stuff over from an old char to a new one.
And it shouldn’t be exclusive to armor/weapons, ANYTHING soulbound, like the unlimited gathering tools.
What happens if a char you bought those on, you no longer play?
What about when you make a new char and can’t buy them anymore?
Etc.
