I know there has been several post asking for capes. And, I completely agree with adding capes to the game. Hopefully, they’re purely cosmetic items that don’t require gems though. It would ruin the look of several player’s characters if they were forced to wear a cape just for the stats rather than a backpack that they like. Though, this is really already fixed with transmutation stones. I would just like to see them as cosmetics, rather. Capes have been talked about, and Anet is already aware.

Grimoires. They may have been talked about before, but I just haven’t seen any recent post. Maybe I overlooked. Grimoires, or books, should be added as a purely cosmetic item. It would be amazing if Anet added so that you could also choose the location of the book. Whether you want it strapped to your back or waist should be up to the player. Size customization would be nice too, but I can see that as being too much. Perhaps just make it so that they appear larger when on the backs of characters. This would introduce more armor clipping, but if players don’t like the clipping, they don’t have to wear it due to not having any stats on the item.

As for the animations, it’s understandable if they’re not even considered. But, still want to throw it out there. Options for Walking animations is my biggest suggestion. I, personally, would like my Asura to use the staff to walk, rather just waddling (so cute!) and holding the staff to her side. A click-able option would be nice. Or, maybe dragging the greatsword rather than hoisting it on their shoulders. Players just like variety, and I like the small details.

These are considerably small suggestions. They would only add immersion to the game. It seems clear to me that Anet prefers looks over stats in gear. These are just some ways to add to the uniqueness of characters. Thank you for reading my long and drawn out post. I understand people will disagree with the things I said. But, it would be appreciated if instead of “bashing” the post, if you would add your own thoughts and ideas. Thank you, enjoy the game!

Capes are a nightmare and a half to rig to character models in a game where there’s any sort of appearence customization, where you need to work with hundreds of potential models as opposed to just one or a couple. Ironing out even a portion of the potential clipping issues and getting them to look decent (and not just like plastic)would probably be a massive undertaking and not really worth it, which is why most games don’t have them despite the fact that everyone requests them constantly.

Grimoires would be cool, but it sounds like something that would be better suited as a new offhand weapon type than a purely cosmetic option. I can totally imagine my Elemantalist running around with a Scepter in one hand and a book in the other.

Definitely understand with capes. They would be a pain to add. My hopes are, Anet has a very small section working on these as an off-project. There are other things with much greater importance to be added!

I couldn’t decide between posting the grimoires as weapons or as cosmetics. I think both would be really nice, but also a lot of extra work. But, as weapons, they would be amazing. Maybe even two-handed? That would allow for some nice spell animations. Granted, even as an off-hand weapon, they could add nice spell animations. I love the idea of them, either way. Thank you for your constructive post, Electro!
