Q:

I was wondering if Guild Wars 2 has the ability to incorporate Channels into maps. So I was thinking if it is, those who come into an area (besides LA) that puts them in overflow; would instead allow them to chose a channel. Probably 2 channels would be fine, the main and the 2nd.

So say your zoning into Claw of Jormag, you normally could get lag and system problems, or be sent into overflow etc. Instead, you would chose channel 2. The server would know when Channel 1 was overpopulated and allow you and others to move to channel 2.

I think a possible programming problem would be allowing both channels to see the same Jormag simultaneously. So the only way it could work smoothly is if the timers were exactly the same on these channels.

And finally in order to avoid people swapping back and forth, incorporate a channel change time limit so that people can’t spam these events on 2 channels. There would only be channels in open PVE world, not instanced/dungeons/pvp/wvw.

This isn’t a new idea, it is actually in place in NCsofts Aion. But I’m curious if any devs think this is a possibility for GW2.
