Guild Airships!
I know our GM wants an airship guild hall more than any other kind of guild housing.

Totally agree on that subject.
And moving it foward to a GvG concept, air battle, housing at least 2 ships , each ship must defend and destroy guildvessel core held at base, ship could be upgraded on a similar fashion to WvW upgrades:
-increase crew size
-increase core hp
-upgrade turrets/siege
- crew morale boons
etc
Could also put new achievements / bonus events
- Destroy opponent’s firepower
- Hold the deck
Very easy and short answer. The concept is awesome, but no.
I think that Anet should be ashamed off not having guildhalls. They should have been implemented one year ago. To make it up they should in my personal opinion do this as soon as possible. I think it would be easy to use an existing instance (e.g. home instances) for this purpose.

2: What bout representing? If this is an issue give every member access. but lock the merchants inside (just like it is right now with certain merchants like the banker)

A guild airship would be great for PvE. Say you want to move everyone to one zone without getting separated into different overflows; get into your guild airship and your guild leader simply takes you all to that zone en-sync.

How do you know that something of such magnitude could be accomplished, and be as intuitive as the developers want, in such a short period of time? What concrete statistics do you have to base this assumption upon?

Having both (guild halls and guild airships) would be unnecessarily redundant, in my opinion.
I think it’s a great concept as is, and I hope to see it.

Was thinking about this few month ago, would be so epic to see that. On the other hand a castle would be cool, too. With siege weapons etc.
No matter what I want GvG
i wold love to have a choice to pick one or the other, a air ship or a fort on a flying island with engines, that wold be epic, to be able to pick one of them, and then customize the looks of it, but if there was only one choice to be made, i wold go with a air ship. but i want to have a choice, and by picking one, there is no turning back.
