Guild Wars 2

Hey All.

In Guild Wars 1 if you were in a guild and were the leader you could form an alliance with another guild and do stuff together. They had an alliance chat and so you could chat with other people.

I think that this would be really useful in GW’s 2 especially for smaller guilds. Now I know you can join 5 guilds but unless your representing that guild you cant see guild chat. This would encourage more group play and help with interaction.

I hope others might find this a good idea.

No one likes the idea of guild alliances for small guilds? This would be so helpful for us so we could band together for Guild events!

I’m a leader of a small guild, and I support the idea of guild alliances, but I think no one really responded to this thread because guild alliances exist already. They’re just “unofficial” because all alliance and collaboration is done within the guilds and on other sites. Small guilds seek each other out in and out of game, and collaborate their efforts on their own. There’s no system for them in game, and their doesn’t really need to be.
I’ll grant you, it would be nice if you could form a sort of group guild chat, where you can talk within, and see the chat from, multiple guilds at once. But really that’s about it.

Guild alliances would give the possibility for small guilds to collect guild tokens without having to represent another guild.

It wasn’t standard to GW’s1 to begin with. They added the function later. Its now time to add it. I think to promote Guild Missions and the like would help smaller guilds to perform better and have more fun without being forced to join a larger guild.

Of course alliances are a good idea, they were so in gw1. Guilds, wvw and the whole player vs player is in need of a serious update in gw2.

This is a great idea for smaller guilds and players who prefers to play in a more close-knit group. Personally, I have no interest in joining a larger guild nor leaving my current guild after putting so much Influence Points into it building it up since launch.

Yep and thats probably one of the main points people don’t mention about, Phalanix. The effort of getting influence and making it grow in small guilds.

I think ANET knows that and I REALLY HOPE that they have t in plans after releasing LFG that they work on for like at least 3 months already.

Before alliances and it’d work for them too, would be to be able to see the guild chat or each guild you belong to. Whether you represent or not.

Combine this with custom chat channels and you allow the non/’don’t want to be guilded’ to form a shared chat with everyone they know

Social and communication features are very, very poor here in both features and functionality and really need a makeover

Yeah A nice option to see all your Guild chats would be great to. But Alliances need to be first. It would help more.
