Greetings Arenanet!

I would like to ask.. Are you guys considering adding Guild Cape in Guildwars2? Because, that would be totally awesome for a guild leader to have a Guild Cape and only Him can wear it. The back flag logo was fine, but i demand more Guild items using the Guild Commendations. Too many options on how to buy the ascend equips, why don’t you guys try adding MORE Guild Back Items? Good job on providing us the Guild Items. The Laurel has already a lot of functions, and the Guild Commendations has few. Just giving out a suggestion that add more Options on where we can spend our Guild Commendations

I couldn’t find where a dev actually talked about capes, but I think it was something to the effect of “We know people want it, and we think it’s cool, but it’s not high priority.” Just going off my very foggy memory, though, so don’t take that as an actual quote.

Capes are somewhat problematic, since they have a lot going on with them, between waving animation, clipping issues, and the wide range of body types in the game. (Especially where Charr, Norn, and Asura are concerned.)

the possible clipping issues alone are enough for me to say we don’t really need them

Matt Visual’s interview with Colin Johanson at PAX is your source… he said something just like what you wrote… yes, we want them, he wants them himself even, but they’re difficult to add due to clipping issues. Why do you think we keep seeing back items that are just worn on your back and don’t “cling” to your figure

Racial capes! Poooof.

Also if a dev looks at this. Why not have racial tiered capes? That would solve some of the clipping, and as for floating back items, why not have the back item detect your body type and move it closer or further away depending on that?

I really would be happy for the cape to just be a back item transmute skin

Yeah, great idea. But, they should have made the game with capes in mind. They wouldn’t be saying “aa clipping issues etc…”.
