After playing DAoC / WAR coming into GW2 version of RvR felt like I was coming from the major leagues to tee-ball. WvWvW boils down to musical objectives and keeps flipping 100 times a day. The rewards are shallow, and so does winning just because our server scored more points, wars aren’t won by scoring more points, they are won by annihilating your opponent.

Allow a guild to claim a keep then upgrade it via gold would solve a lot of the problems I have with WvWvW being so shallow.

For instance [GUILD] claims a keep. Their guild banner is displayed around the walls etc… Officers in the guild are allowed to purchase upgrades from the keep from a quarter master within the walls using the guilds funds (maybe allow guilds to implement taxes on gold drops?). These upgrades can be anything from stronger walls, permanent siege emplacements, stronger guards, legendary keep lords, more walls/towers etc…

Now you have a reason to defend that keep, especially if your guild has pumped tons of money upgrading it. This also opens opportunities for guild rivalries between servers, which are always fun.

The rewards in WvWvW always seemed terrible to me as well, so why not make the chest from the keep reflect the time and money put into the keep itself from the owner guild? For example a guild pumps 100 gold into the keep then the chest would split 100 gold between all the attackers on top of whatever else.

the goal anyways is to make keeps more permanent fixtures in WvWvW instead of just another boring objectives that is looked at as nothing more than “oh hey more points!”. Realistically if a keep was upgraded enough it should be able to hold its own for hours/days, and when it finally falls it should feel like you accomplished something great, and being awarded accordingly is a nice bonus.

there is so much more you could do with this idea then I could possibly post here.

Make supply a constant necessity for guards, ammo, etc… allowing enemy commanders who blockade supply coming to the keep long enough to effectively starve the keep making it weak.

Or bring crafting into the picture, make recipes that use supply. For instance craft-able items that upgrade your guards, potions that buff them etc… As is crafting is only seen as a means to level sadly enough.

The idea as it is now is a jumbled mess, if enough people like it, or add to it ill fix the OP. Just wanted to speak my mind since as WvWvW is now I cant bring myself to care enough participate in it.
