I would like to suggest a guild log-in tracker which would show the last log-in date of the members in order for the leaders to keep track of active members. In larger guilds it’s impossible for one person to keep track of everybody and when trying to remove inactive members is sometimes possible to accidentally remove people who only play intermittently, instead of people who have not played in a couple months. Just the date would be helpful, and if some people are uncomfortable with their last log-in date being available to anyone, it could be an option to make the date only viewable to officers or the founder. It would certainly make managing the roster a lot easier.

Having to type in nearly 500 names every few weeks would make managing much more of a chore than it needs to be. I’ve done it, it takes several hours if you are also typing up the achievement points. I’ve also had to go the route of writing an in-game mail to each member, which is seriously hindered by the mail spam timer. I understand the use for the spam control, but it took me 3-4 days to get out all the messages, which made actual game play pretty much non existent. Having the log in directly on the roster would mean just skimming down the roster and removing anyone gone for a significant amount of time. A small notes section wouldn’t hurt either-anyone on vacation could be noted and not accidentally removed.

I have a sneaking feeling that we will be able to make guild tools for management via the API being developed by Anet. Keep an eye out.
