Guild Towns
This is a Nice Idea. But just that an Idea; a Dream if you would. Such a thing should never be implemented [with the exception being more competitive servers?].
Personally I would do something like…
Guild Fortress
-Upgradeable
-Can ‘buy’ npc’s for services [banks and what not] this of course being an upgrade just different vender
-HUB; one of the upgrades should be a hub with gates to all the cities… or have each gate a different upgrade
-Jumping puzzle; this would earn say influence for every guildy that finishes it each day [but only a small amount]
-And more? [really the skies the limit]
gPvP
Guilds can then enter into PvP to assault/defend there Guild Fortress. However this should be PURELY optional, but every match gives [Something Anet is in a better position to say but maybe Rankings and guild bonuses?].
Finally, there should be Loads of customization. For example. Guild ‘A’ has a classic castle while Guild ‘B’ has a Char Fortress. But then Guild ‘C’ has an Asura Lab; then you have guild ‘D’ who has say… an Giant Airship. Or even Guild ‘E’ who has a fortress on floating ground [Aye, that’s a Castle in the Sky] maybe even have guilds with places in the Mists.
This is just how I Personally would handle Guild Halls. It gives more depth and immersion as well as plenty of customization.
I dont see why things like this cant be put in, just have it in the way overly used Instances so its not like people have to fight over land to use for it.

I would like to see a little more personalization from the original guild halls where they did implement this to an extent. I think that as opposed to the original Guild Wars they should invent a way to allow Guild Halls to be extremely customizable. This goes along with the idea of Player Housing, to what extent should ANet allow players to extend their boundaries? and if you did add a PvP element to Guild Halls, how would you limit it so a casual guild could get a town without instantly having it destroyed by other, more massive guilds. This is all something they would have to think about. However, Guild Towns would be much more entertaining and in-depth than the previous Guild Halls where you were only able to purchase vendors.
I like the idea of guild towns. But my concern is why make one… If the town is going to be instanced why bother having your guild spend time and resources on building a town/city with noone to notice it. I Think there should be a system where a guild can claim a predetermined piece of land in the open world and have a guild build a town there. It will be a great way to show off the guild, add content to the world, and possible allow some more variety to the gameplay.
For example if I claimed land for my guild (costly) then they can go out an craft needed mats to upgrade it. But I would like it to be more humble. Maybe start off with a small wooden hall. Then upgrading the town to more, (houses, walls, gates, stores, a inn, etc) I think that would be a great way to entice a guild to work together to make a difference that can be seen by everyone on the server. Maybe even implement a economy system where npc merchants in your town can sell items that players can buy from and a small % goes to the guild bank. Also maybe implement traveling merchants that would stop by your town and sell items that normally you would have to travel half the world to get.
Decorations should be available aswell. Placing banners, flags, anything that displays your guild emblem can be placed on the walls, towers, buildings, gate. Showing pride of the guild to the world. A level of customization should be implemented aswell, not sure exactly how players can customize the building but it should be a feature.
With everything I just said in place it could create many opportunities for guilds to be known, help recruit new players, help the guild come together towards a common goal that they can see grow over time, plus a window to role players to live in this town/city.
