Basically here’s what I would like to see:

each month of the year Arenanet posts a “goal” whether it could be to fix a certain bug or make improvements on certain aspects of the game w/e.

This could also be taken a step further, for the Gem store for instance…you could say on X day there is going to be a rare convenience item that will only be sold on that day. A good way to generate hype yes?

what are the benefits of this?

Just knowing that things are moving forward in a positive direction is reward in itself, but I suppose you could also view the bug fixes etc. as something worthwhile.

Yeah.. and then they for one reason or another fail to achieve said goal, and these forums will be storming about how much ArenaNet sucks and how they lie about everything and are completely useless.

The issue is that there is always a risk that something will turn up, that will push things back. I doubt they sit down and put up goals that they know they won’t be able to achieve after all.

From the title, I thought that it’s about making it more visible in-game Mouvelian calendar. What season in-game we are in, maybe add some more festivals similar to the Dragon Bash, stuff like that.

I’d probably prefer this actually.
Although I’ve long called for ANet to revealed their very mysterious to-do-list having them reveal their scrum-boards (I’m assuming their agile) will most likely A) reveal things of no interest to most players (fix random bug A, optimise class E) or most likely would lead to ANet only revealing the small and achievable goals (to prevent backlash) and thus the sort of goals that aren’t really all that interesting or meaningful.
