As we all know, hyperinflation in the Trading Post be it Currency Exchange or even an level 80 Exotic crafted weapon , is always on the rise whenever new Gem items are released.

This has been the trend ever since players (I’m guilty as well) start exploiting and abusing the currency exchange to play ‘stock market’ – buying gems to convert to gold or vice versa and investing and getting huge sums of profit out of it.

Some are out there just to get their favorite legendary precursor skins or extra character slots.

But what we all have to realize, is that everything the new Gem releases; Fine transmutation stones/Molten Pickaxe/makeover set, etc. is directly affecting the market. This forces all forms of casual players to grind dungeons endlessly for that.

But I have a proposal to combat this effect. Switch the trading system back to where it was in the orginal Guild Wars.

-No Gems.
Extra cosmetic items and other cash consumables are all paid with Real Money, not gold which has been converted to gems, or even a third party currency for that matter.

-No Currency Exchange.
This is the real problem which is stirring the market up high so much. A newbie player would have no chance of affording his first exotic when he/she hits level 80. Anyone would counter propose to dungeon farming. I say thats a whole lot of bullcrap, because it purely wastes the player’s experience in Guild Wars 2.

This ends my rant about the matter, but also leads to the items featured in the Gem Shop itself.

-Fine transmutation stones/Transmutation Crystals.
These should be placed in an NPC vendor which sells them for 2gold per piece. At its current state, buying just 5 of these would cost you roughly 20gold after converting them to gems. Which is highly unethical and nonsensical. Not to mention there would be constant fluctuations in the market itself.

-Town clothing/costumes.
Not much to say, except that they can be sold by a vendor as well. I just don’t see the reason why’d they have to be in the Gem Shop which is too pricey.

-Primeval Armor/Krytan/Profane Skins.
Same as above really. Can’t there be another armor art set which involves these?

In the end though, I’d really really love to see what everyone would think about this matter and that things could hopefully change for the better than it is now. It is already my 7th month into this game, and I’d hate to see it go down to other MMO paths, where farming for more gold was more important than having a good and memorable experience here.

Someone just woke up John Smith and told him a thread may be worthy of his hammertastic verbage. I can almost feel his presence as if.. hes reading this thread right now after seeing the word “inflation” and quietly swearing t himself.. :P

I do not think so much should be available for gold, gems are our way of supporting future content, content people can’t stop complaining about the lack of day after day after day after………….

But yea, in my opinion, no I don’t think so much should be available in game for gold. the gem market and transferring gold>gems and gems>gold is a balanced market that allows for the game to function like it does. Even if at times it sways to one side or the other.

Fine transmutation stones are so integral to this games design philosophy that I have no idea why they are only in the gem store. Everyone uses them. EVERYONE. It is a basic neccesity when you reach 80 and want the skin and stats together. There is no avoiding it. And you can’t get them from anywhere else, at all? What???

The balance team is chained to SPVP, and the PVE team is all about producing carnivals

I have to agree, the fine transmutation crystals need to be sold in game. Also the new makeover kits should also be done via NPC vendor. However, the skins should be available in parts, not just full sets. Furthermore, those skins should be accessible similar to the hall of monuments rewards, infinite use per account. It’s insane that we not only have to buy the set additional times for other characters on our accounts, but we have to use transmutation stones to keep the look after we get it in the first place.

Your argument actually makes it sound like keeping them on the store makes far more sense than not lol..

They need items on gem store that provide a continual profit, this is one of them. If they get rid of it then people will complain about another core gem item. Then sooner or later Anet is giving everything for gold and we have no new content because they are poor…
