Guild... Wars
This MMO is called Guild Wars.. yet we have no guild to guild interaction. In fact, a guild is just a giant group.
Guild Wars is a name of events that occured in Tyrian lore over hundred of years. It has no correlations with current gameplay, since last Guild War ended over 250 years ago, in 1070AE. You should not link the game name with actual GW2 guilds the true Guild Wars refers to wars with Ascalon, Orr and Kryta. They had their own guilds that participated in battles, like Ascalon’s Chosen or Zealots of Shiverpeaks. Anyway, ANet implemented PvP guild wars in GW1, so you have chance to get what you want in the future!

Oh yes I understand that Sublimatio, yet a lot of players coming to the game see the name and bypass any thought of lore. That being said, regardless of the name, I still think there needs to be more guild v guild interaction.
Lol. I can’t believe everyone is still sticking to the explanation that “Guild Wars doesn’t mean player Guilds, even if the first Guild Wars was pretty much all about player Guild and PvP between them, trololololol”
It’s a stupid name to give to an MMORPG which has guilds and wars but not guild wars. No matter how you want to explain it from a lore point.
And yes, we definitely need a way for guilds to PvP each other. As it seems ANet is doing all in their power to disrupt that happening in WvW, they need to give us an alternative. Simplest solution would be to add 20v20 custom arenas to sPvP. More elaborate solutions would involve open world guild halls and consensual PvP.

It’s actually the other way around. GW1 had GvG and they had to force that into the lore somehow. Easiest was to make it a war sometime before the current day.
The lore is not relevant. It’s not an excuse. Don’t use it. Makes you look silly.

What’s even stupider are people who can’t be bothered doing any research before buying a game and then demanding that the game be changed to match their expectations.
What’s even more stupid is that the game got it’s name from events that happened even before GW1 and had absolutely nothing to do with both games, especially gw2.

It had very much to do with more or less everything in Prophecies at least.

Prophecies was about a group of adventures fleeing from Ascalon after the searing, only to end up in a war between the dwarves and stone summit, then in a war between the shining blade and white mantle and last but not least an epic battle against an undead lich. I didn’t see any major influence from the guild wars besides some references and old grudges.
Factions had nothing to do with it
Nightfall had nothing to do with it
Guild Wars 2 has nothing to do with it

I didn’t see any demands, merely a suggestion.
How would this suggestion be detrimental to the game exactly?

I’m pretty sure GvG and Guild Halls are in the works right now and will be released with a massive Guild Patch with a lot of well done mechanics. The longer they work on that, the higher is the chance that it will be awesome, so patience might be the answer.

@Windu The Forbidden One.6045:
yes those were the events of guild wars prophecies but the guild wars were what weakened the human nations enough for the charr to overwhelm ascalon with the searing and march on orr and kryta, because the guild wars had greatly weakened each nation, ( including orr which had tried to stay out of the conflict originally).
Just some clarification.
and yes I absolutely agree that guild v guild should most certainly be a part of GW2

Thank you all for your responses, but please remember this is a suggestions thread, let’s minimize the bickering.
