There are threads floating around saying that GW2 has a great decrease in players. Though it has been true that chats are barren and I don’t see others frequently. I am also transported to overflow frequently ( how does that work? ).
I suggest increasing the capacity of players in a server somehow. The world is so big and so segmented by boarders that no one really sees each other. Or there isn’t enough people in a FULL server to populate all the maps. In other less populated MMO’s they feel much less barren and lively due to the small sizes of the map. I just think population and server capacity should be adjusted accordingly to the size of the map.
Not sure how can Anet can go on about doing this though.
I feel like a lot of zones are empty in general. I’d love to see an overall larger amount of people put into each zone…
The game feels solo unless you specifically plan to have a guild-group ahead of time.
Other than that, you only encounter enough players to count the server as active during an event-zerg.

i agree with the OP. If you ask me, i think they have too many servers as well, granted i have no clue how servers work but from all the mmorpgs i played so far, few (if any) had the volume of servers as GW2. They are effectively splitting up the population. This is giving some sad results where maps can be totally barren, which effects the players ability to get exp since no one is around to help with events. if at all possible they should stop adding new servers and try to increase current server’s capacity. I had to wait over a month before i could buy this game because they were out of space.
I understand that too many ppl on a server can cause problems, but in the face of the fact that there is a popular space based mmorpg that has one server and as many as 20k people can be online at once, i fail to see why the devs at this game can’t let the servers full out more. Or if possible, shut down 6 worlds or so and have the players move to other worlds. 25 worlds for the America alone seems a tad excessive. unless there is something i’m missing about the whole thing.
I have no info on things like the totally amount of players that are online at a given time, but lets stop and do a bit of simple math. Lets assume that the amount of players that are online right now, at this moment is 50,000, lets take it further, lets say it’s 100,000. That’s only giving you 4000 players per world, and that’s only when the America servers are put into account. 4000 players when the world is so MASSIVE makes for some really barren maps. and i’m almost 100% sure that 100k players are online at any given time since this is a new game. now lets say the game only had 10 worlds, you’s have 10k players per server, which is MUCH better than 4000, but still not enough considering how large the map is in the game. unless GW2 actually has hundreds of thousands of players online at the same time, i really don’t see why they have so many servers.
