HENCHEMEN QQ
sory about the bad speling earlier but im upset. I play this game for two weeks and im geting this bad impression. Im used to solo a lot the content. Here i cant and im forced to look at champions from affar, watch 1 or 2 players near me and just feel helpless . Only tyhe 80s can handle the dam champions. i want to experience more then just going around killing stuff and runing from dangers that overpower me simply cause my class is underpowered compared to others. The game was build around haveing lots of players doing stuff. Well we dont have the players we dont ahve the clases working ( at least engineer) the rifle is uselles compared to any other weapon, and the curent pets ( necro ) are major buged. evey dam part i like is FKD. PETS RIFLES and Henchemen are either not present or buged as hell. And pls post coments related to pets ai rifle utility and henchmen, not a pet hate rant. Some of us love pets and henchies and miss dem.
Sorry to be so blunt, but this is really a learn to play issue. You should always have gear for all slots. Gear is dirt cheap on the Trading Post. Whenever I’ve leveled alts, they got no money from my main, and lived off of buying blues off the TP and never really had much trouble anywhere.
Champions aren’t generally meant to be solo’d (although some can be). Veterans are supposed to be hard. A low level newbie who doesn’t know his/her class well will struggle with veterans, and find champs impossible to kill.
Chill out, and maybe try another class. It could be you’re starting off with a class that’s too complex or just non-intuitive with respect to your way of thinking. I started with an elementalist and had serious struggles early on. When I put my mind to it and began to learn how my enemies fight and experimented like crazy, I eventually hit a nice build that I can solo almost anything.

If you find the pets useless (Ranger pets OR Necro minions), what makes you think the AI for a Henchman will be any better?
Most people don’t have a problem soloing. Just stay in areas appropriate for your character level. Veterans ARE the tougher guys (more HEALTH anyway), and Champions ARE the toughest guys (very FEW players can defeat them singlehandedly).
If nobody is around when you see a Champion that you want to fight (or NEED to fight in order to get past him) try calling for assistance in Map Chat. Many times, especially if killing a Champion is one of the Daily Achievements, people will arrive shortly.
Also, (and I can’t stress this enough) keep your GEAR up-to-date! When it gets more than 10 levels behind you, things start to get tough. Visit the Black Lion Trading Post or the Weaponsmiths/Armorers and upgrade yourself! Don’t rely on monster drops to equip yourself. Very important that you not be running around in a Level 25-35 zone in your starting armor wielding a rusty sword.
You can also look for a Guild if you are the sociable type, and play with other people. You may lose a little freedom of where you want to go and what you want to do, but there’s strength in numbers. And you CAN still run around solo whenever you feel smothered.
And for what it’s worth, I PREFER the rifle for my Engineer. It’s all a matter of playing style. But they DO need a bigger weapon selection. Perhaps in some future add-on…

I personally don’t want henchies in the game, though it could be slightly nifty to run around with Clawspur (he’s awesome) however! You and the game might need to taken it slow and steady for a while before one of you gets your heart broken. Visit the black lion and she’ll give you what you need. Just a couple silver and you’ll be fixed up. Engineer rifle is pretty good against singles. I also like flame turret, its a good addition. Also dodgingbis a mechanic that can give you a hand. I hope it all works out between you and GW2. Best wishes to you both!

well thats just that. despite the large or small No of players in the map i tend to feel rather..alone. A henchmen was that noob player who folowed me everywhere, had decent reliability and had the exact gear and skill i chose for him/her. I understand a lot of players played CS and Dota but pls keep in mind a lot of us (US cause there more then just me i hope ) come from ddo, baldurs gate, nwn etc. We are used to having companions and we want that. Not just the class ( wich is my fault if i cant handle it ) but the entire feeling. The very thing that kept me in GW 1 was my own army of trusted mercs. I understand the problems a 12 man army would casue but ONE LOUSY HENCHIE is not much to ask and the kitten devs promised just that at the begining before they scratched it. ONE LOUSY COMPANION TO FOLOW ME EVERYWEHERE> is not much and is a kitten factor present in half the mmos outthere. STO, Nw O SWKo etc. Imagine a warrior with a suport mage behind or a guardian with a rogue archer , engineer with a warr, ( the henchie could be more support then dps ) …IT a lot better. I mean even in Diablo 3 u had one USELESS but nice to have on a leash companion to ocasionaly do something on the map next to u. And i wish the dam devs would answer why they scratched the entire idea at all. GW was all about henchmen!
GW1 was NOT all about Henchmen. (Well… the ones you like were called HEROES. You could assign weapons and skills to them.)
Heroes didn’t appear until the Nightfall campaign. Prophecies and Factions did not have Heroes. When Prophecies began they DID have Henchmen, but you had ZERO control over their actions.
Terminology and history aside, I still ask you how do you think giving you an NPC buddy will make things better if you already dislike the way they handle Ranger pets and Necromancer minions?

undead minions and animals make poor companions. especially with the poor AI ( interesting i saw bandits dodge my atacks and jumping but not my pets when i played ranger necro ). The thing is i got used to having ’inteligent" NPCs to acompany me. I agree i played most Nightfall and Profecies. And its just that they did promised a henchemen at launch, and scratched it saying the players will not need it becasue of the large no of other players doing stuff everywhere. Well i have played several events where i got ataked by 6 7 centaurs in 10 waves, meet elites ( told about them on the map no response ) and had troubles with various veterans regenerating . The thing is several clases could use one. YES I CAN HANDLE IT if im 5 lvls above with blue gear or if im 80. Aside from that any NORMAL PLAYER atempting with other NORMAL players to takle elites of their own lvl they will fail. Unleass ur 80 or investing a lot u cant handle anything u meet of ur own lvl. Like the minions of the necro, the engineers flamethrower not taking fom weapon stats and dps, etc. THe game is buged as hell and aside from the ingenuity of the questing i dont see it surviving. I mean do the developers or GMs ever responde to us ? A LOT OF US ASKED FOR a henchemen. not just me. and all i see is other peopls coments but no coment from the devs. its like thanks for the money stupid we dont give a f… The rogue warr and elem are well. the ranger necro and engineer are buged as hell. 20% of the mobs are not doable by any class… a henchmen wouldve solved a lot of problems by making stuff easier, and giving us that feel;ing were not doing this sh.. alone. like i said a lot of players come from rpgs and want that companion. I dont see whats the big isue.
Seems you need to find a guild that helps out newbies. Look for one. When leveling my alts I was usually below the recommended level for zones and personal story missions and did fine in blue gear at my level or two levels below at most. Even though “the ranger necro and engineer are buged as hell”, I seem to have had no trouble leveling a ranger and engineer without any monetary or other support from other characters. People’s skill levels are different. Some struggle early on, some struggle later.
Yes, henchmen would solve your problem and make content easier. The only problem is, it prevents you from being forced to learn how to use your class effectively. If a henchman plays a support role for you, it gimps you from learning your own self-support capability to it’s fullest. If the henchman plays a damage output role, you focus on supporting him and kiting/CC-ing enemies. If he plays a balanced role, you do the same, but don’t have to be paying full attention to surviving since the NPC is your fall-back. From day one, I liked how this game doesn’t hold your hand excessively since it forces people to learn.
Bugged or not, all classes can handle themselves in general PvE quite well. The moment you said that you don’t “see it surviving” in reference to the game, I just lost all interest in this topic. Developers do respond to key issues. Henchmen aren’t one of them. It’s clear you want what you want, no matter what anyone else says. In the time being since them implementing henchmen is highly unlikely, look for a PvE oriented guild on your server that’s willing to hold your hand through some of the tougher group-oriented events and general content.

First off I want to say henchmen would not be a great idea. This is a community based game, so start getting involved with your community. Join a guild. In fact I own a guild where helping people is our very objective. Not everyone in the game are mean people who won’t help you do an event. Also, events are scaled to the number of people in the area. If you need help, shout into chat, ask someone. And if all else fails, join a guild. Henchmen would take away from the skill in the game. With the Henchmen in Gw there was nothing customizable about them. Finally when Heroes came around, we had some options, but I dont see them being necessary in a community game like Gw2. If you think about it, Henchmen were used because every map was your own instance, no one else was there. In Gw2, each map has ton of players (unless you are in Orr). And you kind of get henchmen while in instances, with the ally you always have in each personal story instance. Don’t think the content is non solo-able. Even champs are solo-able. It just takes practice, and skill. High level armor helps but isn’t necessary, I didn’t change my armor until I was lvl 50 for the first time. All I’m trying to say, is that there are other options, and jumping to the conclusion that the only reason is that there are no henchmen seems a little premature. Try different skill and weapon combos and a skill I learned to take down champs and vets, is to keep moving and don’t stop. I don’t want to sound mean or shoot your idea down, but I don’t think henchmen are necessary. Sorry if these weren’t the responses you hoped for. Q.Q
Wouldn’t it be more effective to make the player stronger (or, more likely, enemies weaker) than give them a henchman, if something really needed doing?
A lot of the early game for me has been learning not to bite off more than I can chew, actually. Doesn’t make it particularly fun for the group events that there is no group to play through, though (actually worse in Orr, where that means nearly everything) – I mostly just avoid them.
