Just a though, but would it be cool if they made it so Engies could use Hammers? Being all ranged save for a few kits can be very exploitable by classes with reflects. It’d also let a class outside of the soldier armour class use hammers.

I agree, plus it would let us go full melee as well. A mace would also be nice to be used with the shield.

As an engi main, I’d love to have one of the skills (let’s say #3) to point the hammer at the enemy, the top part opens, and shoots rockets out of them, one of the skills would be like the guardian #2 hammer skill, that makes a giant aoe explosion and inflicts burning. It would be fun

Tbh guys it won’t happen. ANET has decided that kits are the only thing we should be carrying so this hammer would probably feel quite underwhelming.

They could introduce the mace for engies and use the first three attacks from the tool kit as the mace weapon attacks.

1 – Smack: Smack your foe. Repair Turrets (chain attack, applie vulnerability)
2 – Box of Piranhas: Release piranhas that bleed and cripple foes
3 – Pry Bar: Confues your foes by smacking then with a pry bar. (3 stacks of confusion)

The skills are really cool and no one really uses the tool kit, besides, it would be really easy to incorporate the tool kit skills as mace skills.

As a warrior main with a mesmer and guardian alt I approve.

Is actually love to see this. Having tried out the engineer two days ago and leaving with a sour taste in my mouth over its unimpressive combat being forced to be purely ranged (aside from a couple toolkit skills). I’d love to see this thread stay alive, unlike most threads in the suggestion sub forum. Sorry to say, ANet but I don’t see this idea getting any negative feedback from the community.

Toolkit 1 and 2 are too kitten slow to bother using. As this leaves only 1 actual attack, Prybar, it hardly counts as a melee kit. You’re not going to spend any particular length of time in it because it’s not worth it. You’ll switch to it, trigger KR, and fire Prybar, Gear Shield, or Magnet, then switch to something else, as it has served the entirety of its purpose.
Just like Elixir Gun, which is only worth using for SE and MAYBE AB for an escape.
