Hats/Glasses in battle
While i agree that this would be much better, i add a question:
Then what would be the purpose of town clothes?
Let us wear town clothes in battle too then. Remember the costumes from GW1? Kind of the same deal. Either way, the headgear at least should be able to be worn in battle.
Well , im not one to complain about immersion , but im quite sure others will complain about this.
To me , this seem like a good idea , since it would create more variety , and more variety is usually good.
Why would people complain about this?
Why would people complain about this?
Because it’s just silly seeing people running around wearing pants, hats, vests and whatnot instead of proper armor. And that just makes the whole experience feel like a middle age fashion show rather than an RPG about fighting dragons. And besides, if you do that, next you’ll have people demanding bikinis, thongs, skirts, underwear graphics and whatnot. And we don’t want to go there.
We can already swap armor skins and are free to change the colour of each piece of armor. And that’s way more prettifying you can do than most games.

So you’re going to sit there and tell me that people wearing glasses/hats and such like we did in GW1 is going to make it feel like a fashion show? Seriously?
What defines “proper armor”? Some of that female “armor” hardly looks like like armor at all if you want to go there. I never said anything about thongs and underwear. Wearing something like aviator glasses in towns only just seems like a huge waste.
In FACT if I remember correctly, the aviator glasses were advertised with a picture of a human male and female in their battle armor.

I agree with the original post. Just as it was allowed in GW1, the ‘fashion’ head gear should be allowed to accommodate the traditional PvE/PvP armor. Also, in GW1 I wore the Asuran glasses as my headset, and sadly that option does not exist in GW2 since it’s only available as ‘town clothes’ i.e. useless to me.
Yeah. Good point. I recall a lot of people in GW1 using the various types of glasses you can get from the Asura as part as their armor setup. At least let us have the headgear. Not so much the silly things such as boxing gloves.
There are civilians etc in all worlds, why does everyone in this game run around in armor? That is unrealistic that everyone can afford such armor.
Look at lotro, has extremely strong lore, did you know any change they make to the game has to approved by the current owners of the lotro books.
He wouldn’t even let them do real pvp using 2 races in the open world. However even those kittens allowed custom world clothing in combat. I want the top hat from the store so bad but i will not touch it until it can be used in combat, my dwarf in lotro had a top hat.
There’s one thing however that would be a bit silly, that is the boxing gloves.
The chef outfit is fine, all armys have chefs and sometimes even the chefs must fight.
I hear what you’re saying. Anet enabling this for us would not only be good for the players, it would be good from a business perspective because more people will want to buy gems to get the special items.
I would rather wear sunglasses then the ugly medium armor helm choices we have now.
