During the beta, we were allowed to take high resolution screenshots, which were very useful for creating in game wallpapers or nice high resolution character shots. Sadly, I am unable to find this feature in the final game. Was it removed permanently, and if so, why? I really liked it.

I never noticed that but in GW1 and in GW2 you can add -bmp to the target of the shortcut, if you check the properties of the shotcut. It’s better than nothing right now.

It seems like this option caused some bugs back then … I loved it too and I am sad it is gone :-(

This is a “much needed” feature for good screenshots since the UI got hidden by default, the resolution was much higher and all graphic settings were on ultra, no matter what you set them to during actual gameplay.

the current -bmp option gives you uncompressed screenshots, but doesnt come anywhere near the quality of HD screenshots back from BWE1 and BWE2

I also believe they disabled it due to bugs. It would be nice to hear from a Dev if this is something they are still working on fixing, or if the idea has been scrapped entirely.

The screenshot quality seems pretty low.

This would be great for fan sites and social networking to promote the game.

I’d love to see this back even if it is a but buggy.

I was planning on making a thread about this myself. I loved the hi-res option, and I do still miss it. At the moment I’m using workarounds to slightly improve the resolution of the screens I take, but it’s just not the same.

I also miss the automatic UI removal that it did. It allowed for action shots to be a lot more simple to take than messing around toggling it on and off manually.

Is this something that will return at some stage? I don’t have a 3D monitor, and can’t because 3D can make me have seizures so the stereoscopic screens option which seemed to replace it might be a nice option but is worthless to me. I’d love for the hi-res option to make a return at some point, even if it’s a little down the priority list at the moment.

I adored the high res screenshot feature and would love to see it come back.

The biggest bug I remember with it was an awkward set of boxes appearing when under, or above water. I don’t know if it had to do with reflections or what.

Just another bump, as I really would like to see it return as well. I remember all my screenshots turned out absolutely gorgeous.

Yes, I wish this feature would be brought back too.
A lot of people are wondering why Anet removed it in the first place. They just did it without warning or reasoning.

I’m throwing my vote in for this one. I loved this feature in the betas and really want it back.
